Preliminary exit poll results from the South Carolina GOP primary have been released.
Record turnout by conservatives and evangelicals is helping to shape the South Carolina Republican primary, along with vast support for Donald Trumpâs stance on limiting the ability of Muslims to enter the country and substantial backing for deportation of undocumented immigrants.
Preliminary exit poll results indicate that three-quarters of the stateâs primary voters support temporarily banning Muslims who are not U.S. citizens from entering the United States. Thatâs even more than the support for this proposal among GOP voters in New Hampshire, 65 percent â a core support group for Trump in that state.
Many fewer â but still more than four in 10 â favor deporting undocumented immigrants, another very strong group for Trump in New Hampshire. And, in another helpful result for Trump, four in 10 pick him among five top candidates as best able to handle the economy â twice as many as pick his nearest competitor on this issue, Ted Cruz.
Other results are potentially helpful to other candidates. Eight in 10 GOP voters in South Carolina identify themselves as conservative, and four in 10 as very conservative â both on pace to set records in exit poll data in the state back to 1992. (In 2012, for example, 68 percent were conservatives.)

RE: (I made that up, by the way)
Spoken like a tRump supporter
I'm not supporting either guy. Both are fine with me.
OUTSTANDING (#45) post BUMP!
Who elected you GOD?
“Hopes and dreams of the MSM.”........
When the media has nothing to report, they create something and hence all the bogus “Exit Polls”. basically the exit polls are nothing more than a waste of valuable time. There is NOTHING anyone can do about the outcome of voting so pull up your horse, tie him to the rail and wait for the outcome. Go have a beer or something.
yes i agree, the term is becoming diluted and is being used disingenuously by the leftists in the uniparty and especially the gope.
but there is a hard foundation for the term in the solid corporate political views and Judeo-Christian faith of our Founding Fathers and Framers, their wives, families and culture. they were mostly hardy, generous, resourceful, intelligent, courageous, determined, consistent, godly men and women with a lot of “steel” in their backbones.
to the extent that an individual’s “conservative” views depart from those of the Founders, i would argue, is a good indication of the degree a faux conservative or conservative in name only (cino) is not a true conservative.
No he/she is saying God Bless Ted Cruz, and you can guess the rest.
Cruz did NOT cheat in Iowa! Cruz’s people saw the same CNN report 15 minutes before the start of the IO caucus that made me believe Dr. Carson was dropping out of the race. They reported it to other Cruz campaigners who naturally thought Cruz was a good alternative if Carson was leaving. Many of us Christian Conservatives liked both of those men. Carson was WRONG to come out blaming Cruz for a ‘dirty trick’. I was disappointed in his attack but I’m sure he was reacting as a human being to a disappointing finish in Iowa. It was a Carson staffer who gave CNN the story that Ben was not going on to NH or SC but to FL and then to the Prayer Breakfast in DC on Thursday. I guess AFTER the report on CNN Carson folks realized what they had done and corrected the story saying he was just going home for fresh clothes before continuing his campaign. By then, the story was out and NOBODY stays tuned to see if a story gets retracted or corrected - which is what Carson’s folks are saying those of us who believed the story SHOULD have done! Really? I was a Carson/Cruz fan so I am disappointed on two fronts: that Carson unjustly blamed Cruz for something his own folks did and that Cruz has now been so besmirched by Carson and Trump that he will probably not survive as a candidate and he is one of the finest, most courageous conservatives on the planet!
