Donald J. Trump â@realDonaldTrump 26m26 minutes ago
I was asked about healthcare by Anderson Cooper & have been consistent- I will repeal all of #ObamaCare, including the mandate, period.
I was referring to a backstop for pre-existing conditions. I will eliminate the law, in its entirety, & replace it w/ something much better.
I will replace it with private plans, health savings accounts, & allow purchasing across state lines. Maximum choice & freedom for consumer.
I'm self-funding and I am going to take care of the people â not the special interests and insurance companies like the other candidates.
Remember, Cruz and Bush gave us Roberts who upheld #ObamaCare twice! I am the only one who will #MAKEAMERICAGREATAGAIN!

Well, I like the mandate, OK. So here's where I am a little bit different. I don't want people dying on the streets, and I say this all the time. And I say this - look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had thousands and thousands of people. We get big crowds.
He likes the mandate.
He doesn't like people dying on the streets.
He gave 5 or 6 speeches today.
He gets big crowds.
Seriously, how in the hell can ANYONE think that this guy is going to fix anything?
Sounds like Trump wants the congress to mandate that insurance companies come up with a program to cover people with pre-existing conditions. Have no idea how that would work. Doubt a Republican congress will go for it. To date, the states have had to do this.
Trump needs to clarify because Cruz supporters are just not that bright. Not to mention Cruz’s constant lies distort things as well. We will see tomorrow who is the best candidate.
How hard is it to have a staffer train him to say âRepeal and replace with a real free market alternativeâ?

I understand what you are saying but...
the people on this forum explained multiple times that it was in the context of the pre-existing conditions. All that energy expended when those of us who watch him regularly understood what he was saying....
To be fair, Trump is on such a nutty schedule, it could have been a lot worse.
So when Trump says, "I like the mandate", how was that statement massaged and distorted? It is right in line with Trump's statements back in August where he said the uninsured would have their medical bills paid by the government. With no mandate in place, everyone drops their insurance in order to get their bills paid by the government. Of course Trump would want a mandate. Which is why he said, "I like the mandate".
Trump’s healthcare plan:
“I will eliminate the law, in its entirety, & replace it w/ something much better.”
I’m sold! Where do I sign up to go to Trump U?
“I’m self-funding and I am going to take care of the people”
He’s personally going to be paying for “the people’s” health care?
Nice.
I see what you did there.
The idea aka the mandate - is the Republican party idea dating back to Ronald Reagan when in 1986 he signed a law that requires hospitals to treat poor people and undocumented immigrants universally. This became the Dole plan and then onward to Romney care. All Republican plans - ideas thought up by Conservative think tanks like Heritage Foundation.
“Well, I like the mandate, OK.”
He managed 6 coherent words. OK, 4 words plus an OK and a well on each end. Just how much do you expect, man? You want a paragraph of coherent thought?
This is modern America. 4 words puts Trump ahead of the average voter.
“Me Trump! Bash DC! Make great!” is Trump’s entire plan, and he’s connecting with voters!
Politicians lie. Politicians FUBAR America. Me no politician. Me love America. Me no FUBO.
His Planned Parenthood comment was another example. He comes out and makes a statement that is familiar to anyone hanging out in Democrat circles - that Planned Parenthood does a lot of good. There is no way that any aware conservative could ever characterize PP as 'doing good'. But Trump simply didn't know.
I’m not sure obamacare can be done away with. If the law was all of a sudden overturned chaos would reign in the industry. I don’t know what the solution is.
If Trump were so solid on immigration, he wouldn't have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Clintons, Pelosi, Reid, Weiner, Schumer, etc. The excuse that he had to do that to help his business doesn't hold water: many conservative businessmen have done quite well without ever donating to liberals.
Nice try, Mr. liberal, but I ain’t buying your DNC talking points. Conservatives do not mandate that anyone purchase anything at the point of a gun. btw, what’s your DU name?
I think the idea is to eliminate state lines so there are better risk pools. For example, if Blue Cross Blue Shield could offer 10 nation health care plans, the prices would be more competitive with a potential pool of millions. Rather than a pool of tens of thousands in small states leading to large prices and collapse if too many sick people enter the pool like is the case with Obamacare now.
This is very common practice for large Fortune 500 companies. They are able to put all their employees under nationwide plans and use the large numbers of insured to get better prices.
” The excuse that he had to do that to help his business doesn’t hold water: many conservative businessmen have done quite well without ever donating to liberals.”
But Trump MAKES deals, so donating to the progressives is greasing the wheel to help him make more deals.
Vote for him so that he can make more deals at the national stage. Forget parking lots and strip clubs.
The “pre existing conditions” part of today’s Healthcare Market is out of the Bag. It is not going anywhere.
Might as well look at it as an Entitlement that would only be Repealed over every Democrat Politicians Body. It will never be completely eliminated, just like Abortion and Gay Marriage.
There might be some limitations that can affect it (not that I can think of any right now), but it is here to stay.
All we can do is walk around it and do a little trimming, just like placing Restrictions on Abortion such as Viability. Of course if Obama gets another SCOTUS Justice you can forget that too.
Don’t kill the Messenger, it is what it is.
We’re back to the old adage, when you get Lemons you make Lemonade.
I have yet to find a single issue where Trump lines up to the right of where Mitt was four years ago. And no Trump supporter has been able to identify one either.
Well, just about anyone would be better than Obama if he loves America and freedom. In fact, just about anyone chosen at random from any phone book anywhere in the USA would be great compared to Obama! As long as he loves America and loves freedom. That’s the first requirement.
Obama/Hillary/Sanders all love some other place and some other form of government.
