Vexed by Trumpology

I'm really trying to understand why people stay with Trump. I really am. Like I can see why a conservative would prefer Rubio. I don't agree, but I can see it.

But for the life of me I don't understand the Trump thing at all. Because if you're for Trump, here's what you're saying:

I hate the GOP establishment so much, I'm backing the guy that donated to help them against the Tea Party.

I hate Obamacare so much, I'm backing the only candidate not named Bernie Sanders also for single-payer healthcare.

I hate amnesty so much, I'm voting for the guy that helped fund most of the political campaigns of the gang of 8.

I thought Romney and McCain were squishes, so I'm supporting Trump who's to the Left of both of them.

Trump has the most conservative platform on record and has a record of accomplishment. Those are probably 2 main reasons. He can say “NO single payer” 10000 times and his haters will still say he is for single payer. If you want to try to really understand you might actually want to listen to what he is saying.

A developer is a different animal than those companies. They live in a highly-politicized environment.

Précisely what I have said. They just don’t get it. They are that out of touch.

It’s real simple, Steve

Trump will end Muslim immigration.
Trump will put an end to cruddy trade deals.
Trump will build the wall.

And until some other candidate adopts those positions, Trump will remain in the lead.

Exactly right. All the other analysis is meaningless!

I believe politics and government run as usual are a 100% total trick on the People. That while “anyone can run” for President, it takes a ton of money to be able to run against all the dirty tricks the powers that be will pull if anyone outside their game comes to play. And because of that, people who run, all Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, WILL be supported by donors who aren’t donating for nothing. Bingo, Mr. Smith is now known as Mr. Staples Big Pharma Oil Smith. He’s in the club now. And the ones who run TO GET THE LOVE, MONEY, AND CHICKS (or DUDES) are easy because they get what they want right up front.

It’s taken me until this election to see that there is only One Party (with two different jerseys to give the People the illusion we still matter).

Only by outsider fighting against this power will we ever have a chance to get back to being a Constitutinal Republic For, Of, and By the People. It’s our only hope. Outsiders are Bern (full on commie but probably can’t be bought) and Trump. Maybe Cruz but he isn’t very ethical and he may be owned one day by threats to his children.

Uniparty candidates are For sure Bush and Clinton, most likely Rubio and Kasich as well. Carson has no chance as does Cruz. Carson probably not buyable, not sure abo Cruz, but Cruz has little kids so that is how they will get him in line. He isn’t rich enough to protect them independently like Trump can his.

The Donald Trump of November 2015 was a lot more conservative than the Donald Trump of today (or Donald Trump of 2014, 2002, 1993, 1997, etc.).

The fact that Trump believes whatever he believes in that exact instant - no matter what he might have stated at another time - is precisely why so many Trump opponents DISBELIEVE anything and everything he says.

I'm still gobsmacked that the Trumpsters are so very willing to be so very gullible. How many revelations of Trump inconsistencies, flip flops, backtracks & liberal policy positions and views will it take to shake you from your stupor?

I get the anger at DC mindest. I'm angry, too. But I've known all along that the entire Trump platform is as phony as a $3 bill.

Well, at least the Donald isn't running around screaming that the Pope is a "LIAR!"

Trump is the billionaire outsider, so that trumps conservatism itself.

Only billionaires like Trump and Bloomberg should run for office, because they're virtuous, or something.

Trump/Bloomberg 16!

I like Steve Deace too; he’s right on target.

Plus Trump has some “End Times” ideas that don’t sit right with me:

Trump’s plan includes a “revolutionary” method for locating and tracking individuals who have been or are scheduled to be deported from the United States. “Specialists will implant a tiny radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip into the upper right arm of every individual who passes through one of these relocation centers,” Trump said, continuing, “This allows us to track their movements virtually anywhere in the world, in real-time.”

And doesn’t everybody have a copy of Hitler’s speeches right next to their bed?

Development is highly political. I used to work for a local builder’s association and their lobbyist told me that it is political because it represents change. And also involves dealing with political boards and elected officials - in Trump’s case, often at the state level.

The answer is easy. Trump says no specifics, just slogans like "Make America Great Again" and "I'm going to get us great deals" and "everything is going to be great".

A woman called Rush today and said that she originally went for Trump because "winning" jumped out at her.

She eventually gave up on him because "Cruz was the only one who stood against ethanol subsidies in Iowa."

I supported, donated to, and voted for Tea Party candidates. I've watched them stab me in the back over and over again. Yes. I'm done with them. They're weak. They have no core.

Fair enough.

But does Trump have a core? Yesterday he endorsed the Obamacare mandate. A week ago he backed Planned Parenthood. And he has been a liberal for most of his adult life.

Why trust him, and not a guy like Cruz who is a solid constitutionalist, in season and out of season (see Iowa and ethanol subsidies)?

It would make more sense if you listed people or companies who have to go to government continuously for approval and permits of projects that determine their success.

A big businessman donates to both sides, which is required to be competitive and get things done.

If you have no integrity.

If you have integrity you wouldn't donate a dime to the party of partial birth abortion. Donating to the party of abortion is nauseating to even consider.

We have been getting our ass kicked forever with this “who’s more conservative” non-strategy. I loved RR but his 8 years didn’t even make a dent. Meanwhile, our adversaries have real strategies: 1. They literally buy votes by promising their constituents other people’s money. Now that’s strategy! 2. They cleverly cultivate a political correctness language that equates conservatism to cruelty, and liberalism to compassion. Now that’s a strategy! 3. They take over the education of our children and open our borders to ensure an endless fresh supply of voters who will benifit from “economic and social justice” (redistribution). That’s a strategy! 4. They purchase political candidates by funding their campaigns. Another great strategy! What is our strategy?

If you notice, Trump is attacking every single one of their strategies, political correctness, schools, borders, campaign funding. He is not stupid Folks, and I’m bot stupid for supporting him. Moreover, if winning was all he cared about, he would run as a liberal Democrat. I think he knows it’s liberalism that is destroying the US and he’s going to fight it like Reagan did - a different style perhaps, but this is a out war.

SO, do we mark you down as not believing him?

Trump at one time or another has said what I believe and he has also at one time or another said the opposite. I do not know which trump to believe. SO yes I do not believe that Trump 3.0 will be fixed in the next release; he is still using a liberal operating system.

“A big businessman donates to both sides, which is required to be competitive and get things done.”

So what your saying is that the Donald, who we are forever being told is going to “fight the system”, when he had a chance to do exactly that he just went along with the system.

The man Has been in the public eye much of his adult life, yet you make your decision by narrowly focusing on his campaign speeches, ignoring decades of his words and deeds.

Why?

I hate the GOP establishment so much, I'm backing the guy that donated to help them against the Tea Party. I believe he donated to who he had to to get business done. In NY that is democrats. I don't think his donations are based on idealogy.

I hate Obamacare so much, I'm backing the only candidate not named Bernie Sanders also for single-payer healthcare. He is not for single payer but rather competition across state lines. Read his paper on it.

I hate amnesty so much, I'm voting for the guy that helped fund most of the political campaigns of the gang of 8. Again I don't see business peoples contributions as a reflection of their beliefs but rather a form of business.
