I'm voting for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential primary.

Not this time.

Should Bernie Sanders become the nominee, the data is similar: Sanders leads Trump and trails Rubio (although he is running slightly ahead of Cruz). So for either Democratic candidate, Trump proves to be the most favorable -- and desirable -- matchup.
Moreover, should Donald Trump earn his party's nomination, some GOP strategists fear that some Republican voters would be so disenchanted with (or appalled by) Trump that they might not vote in the election at all, leading to down-ticket victories for the Democrats by attrition. This theory is supported by veteran Republican political pundit Karl Rove, in an editorial he penned for last week's Wall Street Journal:
If Mr. Trump is its standard-bearer, the GOP will lose the White House and the Senate, and its majority in the House will fall dramatically. If the nominee is Ted Cruz, the situation is still dicey. Any of the other major candidates, if nominated, will best Mrs. Clinton in a close race and help the GOP narrowly keep the Senate.

I disagree with Donald Trump ideologically in virtually every respect. I believe that his policies and proposals would ruin the strength and integrity of our great nation, undermine the fundamental tenets of our democracy, and make us the laughing stock of the international community (except, perhaps, for Vladimir Putin). But no matter what you think of him, one thing's for certain: Donald Trump is a polarizing figure who is not just divisive across liberal and conservative lines, but within the Republican Party itself.
Which is exactly why, on March 1, I'm voting for Donald Trump.

Open primaries are a good idea WHY, exactly?
This is the most logical reason to vote for Trump I’ve heard.
But.. dems are crossing over to vote for Trump only because they really, really support him. We just know it!!

Be careful what you wish for.
And if we lose the Senate, we lose the Supreme Court, and neither Trump nor any other GOP candidate will be able to get anything of substance done anyway.
They help the left-most person running win. Exactly what the GOPe wants.
I think Cruz is far superior presidential material than Trump, but:
1. I think Trump can win the general against either BS or Hitlary.
2. I don’t think conservatives will stay home. I for one don’t fully trust him, but I will vote for him MUCH more readily than I have voted for any other repub nominee since Reagan.
Jesse Jackson?
That means that a 50-50 Congress (tiebreaker Biden), will be able to confirm Obama's nominee to give them a 5-4 advantage on the Supreme Court.
People railing against the "Washington Establishment" and hoping for "RINO" senators to lose in November better consider that. If they get the Senate, and get to confirm that Justice, there's not much a Republican President -- no matter who it is -- is going to be able to do.

I am, as are many who I see on job-sites every day.
All the polls showed Carter would beat Reagan, and Carter celebrated when Reagan won the nomination.
In this case the polls are mixed. There are recent polls showing Trump winning. It’s a long way until the election, and Trump hasn’t started going after the Democrat nominee yet, whoever that turns out to be. I’ll guarantee you the Democrats won’t like it when he does.
Plan Briar Patch.
It is, other than that Papal endorsement.
“Open primaries are a good idea WHY, exactly?”
I agree with this rhetorical question.
Yet I do think they are good for Trump.
Trump will prolly get more non-R’s, non-Conservatives voting for him out of real support than votes like from this doofus author.
In a closed primary he wouldn’t be able to get those votes.
