What I’ve learned from following this since the Obama birth certificate dust up is as follows:
1. It is binary. That is, if you are a U.S. citizen, you are one of these two: Natural born or naturalized.
2. If you are legally a U.S. citizen, but did not have to go through a naturalization process, you are not a naturalized citizen. That makes you the other type.
And any decision by a court that does not make it this binary is going to seriously mess up our political process for a long time.
WKA referred to the 14th amendment. You could too.
could not natural born mean you were born of an american parent? Or does it have to be on american soil? what about ambassadors kids, military overseas?
The requirements in the Constitution are not determined by any subsequent legislation.
The US has no record of Cruz being born. Upon attempting to enter this country, he (or his mother on his behalf prior to his 18th Bday) must prove that he is an American through the legal processes of our nation.
The question that remains is, are you still considered natural born by having had to take those steps?
To date none of those legal documents have been presented publicly by Cruz in defense of this issue, not even his US passport. Somehow he has gotten from point A to point C and there is no evidence of all the very necessary point B requirements being fulfilled.
