U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is 'not Christian' because of his views on immigration, Pope Francis said on his way back to Rome from Mexico. The pope said, however, he did not want to advise American Catholics on whether or not to vote for Trump. In a freewheeling conversation with reporters on his flight back from a visit to Mexico, Francis was asked about Trump and some of his statements, such as vowing to build a wall between the United States and Mexico if he becomes president.

I guess Jorge never read in the Bible that Nehemiah was commanded by God to rebuild the walls surrounding Jerusalem.

The work was completed in just 52 days, and the Israelites had to hold their tools in one hand, and their sword in the other to fend off their enemies who didn't want the wall re-built. Israel was being invaded by a pagan people who wanted to steal their land, rob their wealth, rape their women, and tear down their traditions.

I pray for Pope Francis every day, that God will lead the Church by his goodness and protect the Church from his foolishness. I pray ardently, at the Consecration of the Mass, that God will free this Pope from all the snares of deception, and give him the gift to be able to speak the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth.

Papal diplomacy has never been under the "gift" of infallibility --- we all know that --- and a great deal of harm can be done by a pope who just doesn't know what he's talking about.

This is nothing new in our 2000 year history. Getting deep into the history is a good thing to do. After the initial shock, it steadies one.

Belated reply: I wasn't the one who showed the picture of the model. But I have seen many actual photos of Vatican City as it exists today - I have a couple of recent books about Vatican City - and the walls are very high, totally intact, well-maintained, and monitored by Vatican security personnel.
