Pope Francis and the Vatican took on Donald Trump and the GOP leading candidate's thoughts on whether or not Pope Francis should be visiting Mexico. A Vatican spokesman dubbed Trump's condemnation of over-the border outings made by the Bishop of Rome as "very strange," and suggested Mr. Trump could use a helping of "global perspective."
Writes the New York Times on Feb. 17: "Pope Francis' trip to Mexico ended on Wednesday in Ciudad Juarez, a city once made hellish by drug violence and still gripped by poverty and crime. He did not seem afraid, and brought with him only smiles and hugs, and words of solace and encouragement."
It appears the Sovereign of the Vatican City was able to dismiss Donald Trump's words, which were wholly opposite of the Pope's message to the pilgrims gathered in the border city across from the Rio Grande and Texas. Francis was in Mexico from Feb. 12 to the 17, visiting prisons, hospitals and praying at the U.S. and Mexican border for migrant workers who have endured "human tragedy" - being forced to risk death while "each step is a journey laden with grave injustices: the enslaved, the imprisoned and extorted."

Yet has the pope ever addressed Obama, the sitting president and not just a candidate, regarding the numerous positions he holds that are in violation of Doctrine and Natural Law?
That’s a point for Trump.
No. This pope is a globalist, so is Obama. They are on the same side along with most of DC.
So Basically Francis is saying, “I don’t care what you have to say so I am going to talk about what you said”
Far, far stranger that the Vicar of Christ is responding to comments by a New York entrepreneur who holds no elected office, and has never even been elected to any office.
Trump hasn't even won the Republican nomination, and people are treating him like he's the President!
You would think that the Pope would address, go to the source of the problem that is causing the people to be in desperate conditions instead of blaming the United States for not absorbing all those millions.
Going to the source of the problem would require him to go to the gated communities of the government officials of the respective countries and lecture them.
Has the Pope ever criticized Castro, called for free immigration from Cuba, mourned those Cubans who died trying to emigrate, etc.?
Or is it only the USA that comes in for his criticism?
(Because the USA deserves it so much more, right?)
Dear Pope
Stick to being God solider and stop being a politician in a cassock and we will leave you alone.
Instead of shaking his fist at the US, maybe Popester should be complaining to the Mexican government about its chronic corruption and its built-in discrimination against Mexico’s people of non-Hispanic origin (that is, the vast majority of Mexicans).
as others have posted, trump lives rent free in everyone’s head.
I heard Trump say only that the Pope is a political guy...or something like that. Did he add more about the Pope that I missed?
For the Pope to come to our border with Mexico and encourage illegal immigration does sound vaguely political to me. /sarc
In fact, it sounds like an attack by the Pope against our country. I really don’t know how else to look at it.
I wish it weren’t, but it is.
The Catholic vote swings heavily D (at least here in Illinois it does). I am sure Sanders has that pretty locked up.
The Pope should stay out of politics.
Hey Vatican! Tear down that wall!
A socialist in Rome, despite his title of Pope, thinks so little of Americans that he believes he can tell an American citizen/businessman what to do? We have fallen a long way in 50 years. I remember the Pope as being concerned more with the spiritual lives of people not political. Take immigrants into the Vatican it is huge and stay out of what America does.
the Pope, the leader of the foreign govern sovereign Vatican, is an American enemy. He is communist to the core and intent on flooding our country with Catholic vaticanites.
The pope is no friend of the United States.
His subjects should be very aware of how they are being used to accomplish his political agenda
Yeah, sure. Only the Pope can lecture people, right? [/s]
If the Pope wants the American taxpayer to pay for these illegals, then it’s time to tax the Church to help pay their fair share.
The Pope stands in front of the border and criticizes the US.
Let’s see him stand in front the drug cartels’ compounds and open his big mouth.
