Ted Cruz to Donald Trump: Sue me
CNN ^ | Wed February 17, 2016 | Gloria Borger and Eugene Scott

Seneca, South Carolina (CNN)Ted Cruz is calling Donald Trump's bluff.

Cruz slammed Marco Rubio and Donald Trump during a dramatic press conference Wednesday that underscored the escalating tension among Republicans ahead of Saturday's South Carolina primary.

But it was his broadside against Trump that sounded like a challenge: sue me.

"I have to say to Mr. Trump you have been threatening frivolous lawsuits for your entire adult life," Cruz said at a press conference in South Carolina. "If you want to file a lawsuit ... file the lawsuit."

He said Wednesday said that Trump's lawyers have sent his campaign a cease and desist letter, and the Texas senator is calling the billionaire businessman's bluff.

"But if Donald Trump files the lawsuit that he threatens, that lawsuit will be frivolous," Cruz said.

Trump's letter was in regards to a Cruz television ad that used comments the real estate mogul gave NBC's Tim Russert in 1999 when he said he was "very pro-choice."

Trump has since evolved on the issue and now says he opposes abortion rights.

Cruz pointed out the ad uses video of Trump and he argued that any court in the country would reject a defamation case based on use of a candidate's own words.

And on the Florida senator, Cruz said, "Marco Rubio is behaving like Donald Trump with a smile."

"They are right now are in the closing period of a campaign," Cruz said, adding his campaign is "focused on any accomplishments that Rubio has."

Cruz, Trump and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio are in a hard fought battle for the South Carolina Republican primary this Saturday. Trump has been polling ahead, with Cruz trailing in second.

Trump has threatened, “looked into,” and “seriously thought about” suing for while now. If he’s going to do it, then do it already.

Trump has since evolved on the issue and now says he opposes abortion rights.

Anyone who denies evolution is clearly not familiar with Trump's ever-changing positions on amnesty, government health care, gun control, abortion, what party he belongs to, who he donates money to, etc.

You will immediately cease and desist from posting pro Cruz posts or I will call you a Canadian!

What's more, "I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"

Go Cruz!

"Discovery is going to be a bitch."

Not really. Discovery would be limited to material related to whether Cruz is a natural born citizen which would be admissible in a trial on this issue. Such a limited issue for trial would make discovery correspondingly limited. I guess Trump's standing to sue would also be a relevant issue but again, this would be a pretty narrow area for discovery

Trump doesnt have to do anything. The suggestion is out there, eating away votes... just as it would be in the general election, if in some alternate universe Cruz could make it to the general election: the suggestion would be out there, eating away votes.

You liberals and your candidates always use the same tactics. Accuse the other guy of what you are actually doing.

How does Cruz ever get new supporters if his eligibility is an open question? Cruzers (I know you're not one) flame away.

I'm just not seeing the brilliance in your guy we were all told about. Instead I see a guy in meltdown because not only did he choose campaign advisors with a dubious past who gave him bad advice. He's followed it.

You know Trump has been FOS on this, he never had any intention of doing this.

To those ga-ga for him all they care about is his words, no, not even that, his voice.

He makes this $hit up with no intention of doing what he says, and he says the opposite of what he said the day before, and they just don’t care.

They have NO idea what he would do as POTUS because his words have no meaning, and they don’t care. It’s irrelevant to them,

Windbag bluster, that’s what floats their boats.

What a hateful little POS.

You do live in your own little Trumpian fantasy world, don't you? Trump repeatedly threatens to sue, like a whining child, and Cruz finally has enough and simply says 'so do it then", and you see Cruz as the POS???? SMH

Depends on the petition. Felito will need to borrow more money if this is ever filed. Defense firms don’t come cheap in those circles.
