Trump is Either for Us or Against Us
American Spectator ^ | February 16, 2016 | Aaron Goldstein

Donald Trump is threatening a third party run — again. So what else is new?

At a town hall meeting in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Trump objected to being booed at the GOP debate in Greenville on Saturday night after having accused former President George W. Bush of lying about WMDs in Iraq as well as blaming him for the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Trump ranted, “The RNC better get its act together because, you know, I signed a pledge. The pledge isn’t being honored by the RNC. I signed a pledge, but it’s a double-edged pledge. As far as I’m concerned, they’re in default on their pledge.”

Of course, Trump was referring to the pledge he signed last September in which he promised not to launch a third party bid for the White House and support the GOP nominee if he did not win the nomination. Trump signed the pledge after drawing jeers at the first GOP debate in August when he said he would not rule out a third party run. To be precise the pledge reads:

I, Donald J. Trump, affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for President of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is.

I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.

At the time, Trump also said, “So I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and for the conservative principles for which it stands.” But since signing the pledge, Trump has raised the possibility of reneging on it.

I find it more likely that Trump is threatening to renege on the second part of that pledge, than on the first part.

If he takes his opposition to Cruz outside of the normal political realm, and into the courtroom, it can be said that he is in violation of a promise to support the nominee, no matter who the nominee is.

He's on the GOP primary ballot or caucus system in all 50 states. He;s doing well against his opponents. There is NOTHING that suggests it would be to his advantage to abandon that position. The rpess, as usual, is on the wrong track. Of course, the people, being generally morons, follow right along.

The rest of the GOP candidates are sweating because they signed pledge to support the nominee, and the nominee looks like it will be Trump.

So is the GOP-E.

And the DC cartel knows that if Trump comes to town, their days of robbing and pillaging the American people are over.

They don’t want a new broom under any circumstances.

That’s rational and coherent, therefore it doesn’t matter.

LOL! - now a proponent of the RNC/GOPe are we?????

Anything to make Trump look bad - even from those who have the most to lose in their decades-long war against the People whom they claim to represent.....once again - pathetic.

The RNC freely admits how they stacked the deck against Trump and Cruz, yet this nimrod attacks Trump instead of the RNC for objecting.

I’m almost tempted to question what they do with rape victims.

Sorry honey, you were out late. The RNC has needs you know...

Trump has almost 2-1 lead in Evangelicals in SC as Cruz's slimey dishonesty continues to be exposed.

Ooh! Another anti-Trump rant? Haven’t seen one of those in a while. /s

Okay. A little teeny bit of truth, here.

Trump did not threaten to go third party, or say he was going third party, or hint that he was going third party or even mention the WORDS “third party.”

He said the RNC broke their pledge to support all the candidates. That’s all his said.

So this is an article wrapped around nothing.

“That’s all his said” should be “that’s all he said.” Damn little words. Mess me up every time... :-)

Did the RNC make any such pledge?

Does it matter?

He is willing to break an unequivocal pledge, if he is willing to do that.....there is no telling what he would do if he ever got to the White House.

My prediction, this guy is going to go 3rd party run regardless, we should just kick him now. He is indicating that he is going to break his pledge, that pledge is required to take part in the primary.

He should be kicked now.

Why do all the Trump supporters rewrite what the man says, normally on FreeRepublic we like to quote “” exactly what the person said and link to it.

Why don’t you link and quote him?

Is it your belief to quote him is not to understand his meaning? He means something other than what he says?

I've noticed that a lot of the anti-Trump articles and posts on this forum are about Trump not being a "real Republican" or a "real Conservative" because "he's rude."

Our side has been represented by p*ussy losers for so long that these people don't know how to react when a Republican isn't a p*ssy loser.

Trump’s support dropped 9 points after the SC debate:

....”The [ CNN/ORC] poll did show that Mr. Trump’s level of support was slightly different based on whether the interviews, conducted from Feb. 10-15, were done before or after the boisterous GOP debate on Saturday, Feb. 13. Forty percent backed Mr. Trump in interviews conducted before the debate, compared to 31 percent who supported him afterward.”

BLA-BLA-BLA,

He's not going to do anything like that

He just talks. Says one thing, then the opposite..

That satisfies his groupies, they never hold him to anything he says he will do.

They just love his empty threats.

I would LOVE to see him go to court with this tripe and get his ass kicked by the judge. But he has no intention to do anything.

Trump sues lots of people when his fragile ego is bruised or when he doesn’t want to pay contractors or by Illegal Aliens who weren’t paid properly and sued Trump.

It is how he does business.

If he had the DOJ he would sue everyone who didn’t vote for him, Perhaps the IRS with people who criticize him.
