Sen. Thom Tillis is cautioning his Republican colleagues against reflexively blocking President Barack Obama's eventual Supreme Court nominee, warning of "the trap of being obstructionist."
While not discounting the notion that Obama could nominate someone with a similar resume and credentials as the late Justice Antonin Scalia, the North Carolina Republican elected in 2014 suggested in an interview with The Tyler Cralle Show on Tuesday that lawmakers should consider any nominee the president sends forth and approve or reject based on his or her merits.
An ideological replacement for Scalia is "unlikely to happen," Tillis conceded, "but I think we fall into the trap if we just simply say sight unseen-we fall into the trap of being obstructionist."

That didn’t take long. The republican’s white flags have wind-burn.
That didn’t take long.
Thom, like being a one term Senator?
What the heck is in the water in the Carolinas?
Obstruct Obstruct Obstruct.
Hold on for 11 months.
FUTT.
They should allow the nomination, then vote it down. By then the clock would’ve run out.
Of course, the question is can you keep 51 from voting yeah.
Democrats need 14 Votes
When’s he up for reelection?
As soon as the Pa. primary is over I will be leaving the Republican Party after 50 years of slavishly voting for any and all Republican candidates. Sen. Tillis and his like-minded ilk is the reason. I absolutely despise them!
If the GOP caves on this issue, it’s time for a Pitchforks-to-Washington Party.
The simple question they should ask themselves is what would the Democrats do if the situation was reversed?
The answer: Stall, stall, stall.
They would never in a million years allow a Republican to appoint a Supreme Court Justice in these circumstances.
For the Republican elite, this is a defining moment. In their battle against Trump they have exposed themselves but can still partially explain away their action. If they fold, and allow another liberal justice on the court, they will prove that they are nothing more than Democrat lite.
Does tillis’ head have a point on it? What a compromised moron.
Tillis is GOPe, Bush-Bot hack of the first order.
So whats the deal? Is he afraid of what liberals and the MSNBC talking heads will say about Republicans??? Are we supposed to go through life being afraid of what the liberals and media spin doctors say about conservatives??? Really????
Mitchy will allow Reid to change the rules that they only need 30 votes to confirm.
