Sen. Thom Tillis is cautioning his Republican colleagues against reflexively blocking President Barack Obama's eventual Supreme Court nominee, warning of "the trap of being obstructionist."
While not discounting the notion that Obama could nominate someone with a similar resume and credentials as the late Justice Antonin Scalia, the North Carolina Republican elected in 2014 suggested in an interview with The Tyler Cralle Show on Tuesday that lawmakers should consider any nominee the president sends forth and approve or reject based on his or her merits.
An ideological replacement for Scalia is "unlikely to happen," Tillis conceded, "but I think we fall into the trap if we just simply say sight unseen-we fall into the trap of being obstructionist."

While we still have them....
Idiots!
Was this nut a tea-party candidate? So many false flags have gotten in with the pretend conservative theme.
Tell me again, Rush, how any Republucan us better than Hillary.
He had better be posturing. So far he has shown himself to be a rino sellout and he has been in the Senate only slightly over a year.
Just impeach him. We can impeach sitting senators, right?
Look up Nick Gass for plumbing. I suggest we Mel T-Tillis.
I voted for this guy last time he ran...no more!
Sadly the mentally challenged Tillis is my senator and a true GOPe puppet.
Ask Gillis about Obama and judge Alito. :-p
Sure, it’s possible that aitch could nominate an original constructionist. It’s also about as likely that I’ll morph into a unicorn...
In Tillis's Republican primary bid, his candidacy had received endorsements from former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, current North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, and former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Tillis's primary candidacy had also been endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.Yes, that does explain everything.
No Tea Party but he defeated a constitutionalist named Bannon.Lots of GOPe money.
That’s our awesome RINO senator that we got instead of Greg Brannon!

The Senate needs 60.
FEAR
Gillis=Tillis
Rip Obama’s left wing-liberal nominee through months of confirmation hearings. Then set the Senate vote on Obama’s nominee for the week AFTER election day. Make the election a referendum on whether a far left-wing oligarchy should rule over our lives for the next 30 years.
If Hillary wins and the Democrats take back the Senate then Obama’s nominee is probably no worse than what will get crammed down in January. Otherwise, vote the nominee down on a party line vote and let President Trump or Cruz pick a new nominee.
It does not need 60 to confirm or reject, just 51. The GOP could kill this nomination without a lick of help from a single Democrat.
