Donald Trump holds a broad 16-point lead among those likely to vote in South Carolina's Republican primary this Saturday, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton tops Bernie Sanders by 18 points in the state's Democratic primary, which will be held a week later.

In the Republican race, Trump, at 38%, tops Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who holds second place with 22%. Behind those two, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio garners 14% support, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is at 10%, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has 6% and Ohio Gov. John Kasich is at 4%.

that’s even higher than the pre-debate

I was assured on this site and several others, that Trump cut off his own manhood in the debate and would surely be in single digits...

Well since Cruz is running against 4 other people against Trump there is a bit of math to work out here....

Right now it is 38% for Trump and 62% for somebody else.

If it was Trump vs just Cruz here what would the results be?
The answer is just a guess, but of the ones left, which ones will view Trump favorably after all of the name calling attacks he has done against his opponents?

Go here and see who is more likely to beat Clinton.

Hint the answer is not Trump....

This is 2016, yes but then the same thing happened in Iowa just 2-weeks ago. The last THIRTEEN polls all had Trump winning by up to 11 points. Cruz won by 4. Dat superior ground game again. South Carolina is just like Iowa.

The reason Gingrich won SC last time was because of the debate and taking on the media.

It wasn’t the ground game. It was because Newt was fighting the enemy.

If if if.

It isn’t. And simply taking the support for the other candidates and just *shocker* awarding it to Cruz (because reasons), is nothing more than engaging in a fantasy to keep your hopes up.

“Go here and see who is more likely to beat Clinton.”

With all due respect, are you people some sort of study in political stupidity with that?

Exactly how the hell do you sit there with a straight face and keep citing a poll prediction for an election 9 MONTHS OUT, while at the same time rejecting polls for a primary 4 DAYS from now?

No, genius, there is too much election to go through until even July to sit there and hug that retarded poll as some sort of evidence that people need to vote for Cruz.

You conveniently forgot to mention that Trump beats Cruz by 18 and 19 points respectively given the poll. So basically, your boy Cruz is getting stomped no matter how you cut it.

For people far back in 2nd and further.

The point is that it doesn’t put them in first, and shows that Cruz’s support isn’t nailed down.

so basically you don’t like the results and think Cruz is going to pull it off with his ground game. I guess the polls are “all over the place” but they all consistently have the same top three in the same order. Ultimately, I’d just like to see a change in the western world as a whole and I just don’t see it by doing the same thing over and over. More politicians are clearly not the answer which is why Cruz, Rubio and the rest don’t seem like the answer to me. Oh well, if others see more politicians as the answer then so be it but I am willing to bet having another politician (no matter how conservative) won’t change the direction of the country in any meaningful way.

It is?

One is a caucus. The other is a primary.

They are in different parts of the nation.

One took place before and one will take place after the New Hampshire primary you all keep pretending never took place for some reason.

(if you are going to respond with some mumbo jumbo about evangelicals, then save your time)

Calm down... Trump may very well win South Carolina.... But to say that he is obviously more likely to beat Clinton, well that is just not true, no matter how many times you say it.

“But to say that he is obviously more likely to beat Clinton”

NOVEMBER IS 9 MONTHS IN THE FUTURE.

Is this a concept that is difficult to understand?

Do you seriously think poll numbers hold up for that long?

And even the numbers you show aren’t some blow-out. Many are withing the MOE for both.

Did you know how much Carter was leading Reagan by?

Thanks to Newt’s home run during the debates.

Only one that came out the last debate without much stink on him was Rubio, and his numbers haven’t moved much.

I should be afraid of pie but those charts scare me a little.

I have a real concern that Trump is so disliked that he could be the one person Hillary could beat.

What a horrible thing Trump has done to this country by running for a job he doesn’t want and is not qualified for.

He just wants another trophy.

Cruz will win because of his vastly superior ground game, just like he did in Iowa.
