RUSH: You know what I learned about Bernie Sanders? He didn't earn a paycheck 'til age 40. Bernie Sanders is actually a bum. Bernie Sanders. Here it is, the Investor's Business Daily editorial: "Bernie Sanders, The Bum Who Wants Your Money -- Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said Monday his parents would never have thought their son would end up in the Senate and running for president. No kidding. He was a ne'er-do-well into his late 30s.
"'It's certainly something that I don't think they ever believed would've happened,' the unabashed socialist remarked during CNN's Democratic town hall forum... He explained his family couldn't imagine his 'success,' because 'my brother and I and Mom and Dad grew up in a three-and-a-half-room rent-controlled apartment in Brooklyn, and we never had a whole lot of money.'" IBD says, "It wasn't as bad as he says. His family managed to send him to the University of Chicago. Despite a prestigious degree, however, Sanders failed to earn a living, even as an adult.
"It took him 40 years to collect his first steady paycheck -- and it was a government check. 'I never had any money my entire life,' Sanders told Vermont public TV in 1985, after settling into his first real job as mayor of Burlington. Sanders spent most of his life as an angry radical and agitator who never accomplished much of anything. And yet now he thinks he deserves the power to run your life and your finances -- 'We will raise taxes;' he confirmed Monday, 'yes, we will.' One of his first jobs was registering people for food stamps...
"Sanders took his first bride to live in a maple sugar shack with a dirt floor, and she soon left him. Penniless, he went on unemployment." So he went from a dirt-floor shack to unemployment. "Then he had a child out of wedlock. Desperate, he tried carpentry but could barely sink a nail. 'He was a shi**y carpenter,' a friend told Politico Magazine. 'His carpentry was not going to support him, and didn't.'
"Then he tried his hand freelancing for leftist rags, writing about 'masturbation and rape' and other crudities for $50 a story. He drove around in a rusted-out, Bondo-covered VW bug with no working windshield wipers. Friends said he was 'always poor' and his 'electricity was turned off a lot.' They described him as a slob who kept a messy apartment -- and this is what his friends had to say about him. The only thing he was good at was talking ... non-stop ... about socialism and how the rich were ripping everybody off.
"'The whole quality of life in America is based on greed,' the bitter layabout said. 'I believe in the redistribution of wealth in this nation.' ... He finally wormed his way into the Senate in 2006, where he still ranks as one of the poorest members of Congress. Save for a municipal pension, Sanders lists no assets in his name. All the assets provided in his financial disclosure form are his second wife's. He does, however, have as much as $65,000 in credit-card debt." His first job was a government paycheck, at 40 years old. He's a "bum."
Investor's Business Daily. Dirt floor shack, and his wife amazingly, strangely, left him. I mean, that's kind of cruel, right?

As a Democrat/Marxist/Progressive that is a resume’ enhancement/
Fortunately for him this is all a plus in the primaries and the GOP would never attack the reputation of an opponent in the general election.
Gosh, what a wretched human. Kinda like a Woodie Guthrie.
Just another commie worshiping lefty living off a government check.
We’ve got millions and millions of them.
Never knew this or heard this. Bernie is pathetic
True. Republicans, like McCain and Romney feel compelled to be gentlemanly losers.
Bernie has empathy with his supporters. They sound like their lives are just like his.
Sounds like a family I grew next door too. They had little of anything but were always complaining about not having things the rest of the families on the block had. I even remember the boy my age, 9 at the time, complaining that landing on the moon was a waste and that the money should go to the poor, namely them. They all grew up to be pot heads.
There were many guys like this in the 60s and 70s. Some of them became quite successful later in life. I agree that 40 is a little late, but some bummed around well into their 30s.
I knew a guy who was a taxi driver, a clerk in a hippie bookstore, and the manager of a theatre company with no audience and no money, who eventually managed to become a highly successful IT consultant. He always told me that you should retire when you’re young, and work when you’re old.
I knew guys like him in college in the northeast in the 80s. Lazy, angry, bitter complainers who were always looking for the easy way out.
See what being a Washington politician can do for your financial status, no wonder the bastards fight so hard to keep their cushy jobs.
Marx was broke too. If it wasn’t for his very wealthy friend, Engels, no one would have known Marx’s name.
The Clinton campaign—the same people who gave us Obama’s birth certificate—circulated the story earlier this year, with emphasis on Bernie’s illegitimate son. Politico was more than happy to oblige:

And it certainly reinforces the bum meme. After his first wife divorced him, Bernie gets another woman pregnant and she becomes the mother of his only biological child. The article mentions the boy had a bedroom in Bernie’s apartment, but you also get the impression that Sanders (at some point), essentially washed his hands of his son. He is barely mentioned in what passes for Sanders’ “official” biography, and I’ve never seen an interview with him, or any appearances with his father on the campaign trail. It seems pretty clear that the son (now a grown man) doesn’t care much for his father.
But, as others have observed, severe character and ethical flaws are a resume enhancer in the Democratic party. So, if Bernie pushed his son out of his life years ago (and lived the life of a bum until he was 40), it’s no problem. Just the kind of guy the Dims can rally around.
Bernie Sanders’ initials aren’t’ “BS” for nothing...
Yup....he parked his azzz right in D.C. for life.
He’s not a bum, he’s an extortionist.
Give me your money for whatever I want to do with it or else I send the leg breakers to your house.
Well lets say he’s a former bum, who turned into an extortionist. Can we agree to that?
I hadn’t thought of that, but you sure hit the nail square on the head.
