At a town hall today in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Donald Trump floated the idea -- without explicitly threatening to do so -- that he may run as an independent candidate.
Trump attacked the Republican National Committee, saying it "better get its act together" and it "does a terrible job." Trump said he believes the RNC treated him unfairly.
Trump also went off on the crowd that booed him during Saturday night's GOP debate in South Carolina: "Look at it, that was a wealthy room."
"The whole room was made of special interests and donors, which is a disgrace from the RNC," Trump said. "The RNC better get its act together because, you know, I signed a pledge. The pledge isn’t being honored by the RNC."
Trump signed an RNC pledge in September, agreeing not to run a third-party candidacy and to support the eventual Republican nominee.
"I signed a pledge, but it’s a double-edged pledge. As far as I’m concerned, they’re in default on their pledge," Trump said of the RNC.
Trump also spent several minutes hitting Sen. Ted Cruz on dirty campaign tactics, calling him the most dishonest guy in politics he’s ever met.
He’s criticized Cruz “holding up the Bible,” and says he’s beating Cruz when it comes to evangelical voters.

No, stupid - it’s all about America. We need to know whether or not Cruz is eligible. America already elected someone who we aren’t sure was eligible. We, as Amnericans, need to know for sure - one way or the other.
I thought he had a really friendly meeting with some illegal immigrant activist group last week.

Seems the GOPe wants him to pledge to run as a conservative yet the GOPe will not promise to support him if he wins the nomination. (Time to put GOPe and there super Pacs on notice rather than letting them continue to attack him)
In previous presidential election cycles, we Freepers would always be angry at how the GOPe would stack the debates with moderators and hand-picked audiences in order to show plenty of support and applause for their favored candidates.
Now we have a candidate who doesn't put up with it and we end up calling him a baby, thin-skinned, etc.
It may be decades, if ever, that we have a candidate buck the establishment like this again.
Not enough respect.
I think that we can stop wondering about a Trump/Cruz or a Cruz/Trump ticket! ;-)

And the so-called ‘stacking’ of audience doesn’t count.
The dunce entertainer can’t have it both ways. He can’t say he won’t get donor money and then whine like a little girl when no one shows up to support him in these debates.
I’ve been to these debates and yes, you get a ticket if you donate to the RNC and/or candidates. That’s the way it works. He and his campaign team knew this going in and it’s disingenuous for him to cry about it.
What did he expect? And empty hall? What a loser....
I want all them to get over themselves and learn to STFU about how offended they are about how they’ve been “disrespected.”
If Trump is such an astounding, rock-ribbed, stand-in-the-gap negotiator as he claims to be, then he’d stop the whining and blow the insults off like a man.
I guess you know what whiny sounds like - after listening to Cruz’s MR. Haney, nasally voice for so long. Trump is sticking up for himself as he will do for America. There is nothing cry baby about it - only in your immature mind.
Why, Ted Cruz of course. That’s the correct answer.
