Donald Trump Floats Idea of a Third-Party Run Again
ABC News ^ | Feb 15, 2016 | BRAD MIELKE

At a town hall today in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Donald Trump floated the idea -- without explicitly threatening to do so -- that he may run as an independent candidate.

Trump attacked the Republican National Committee, saying it "better get its act together" and it "does a terrible job." Trump said he believes the RNC treated him unfairly.

Trump also went off on the crowd that booed him during Saturday night's GOP debate in South Carolina: "Look at it, that was a wealthy room."

"The whole room was made of special interests and donors, which is a disgrace from the RNC," Trump said. "The RNC better get its act together because, you know, I signed a pledge. The pledge isn’t being honored by the RNC."

Trump signed an RNC pledge in September, agreeing not to run a third-party candidacy and to support the eventual Republican nominee.

"I signed a pledge, but it’s a double-edged pledge. As far as I’m concerned, they’re in default on their pledge," Trump said of the RNC.

Trump also spent several minutes hitting Sen. Ted Cruz on dirty campaign tactics, calling him the most dishonest guy in politics he’s ever met.

He’s criticized Cruz “holding up the Bible,” and says he’s beating Cruz when it comes to evangelical voters.

So many FReepers made such a HUGE mistake when they chose to trust Trump!

I think Trump planned to do this all along if he didn’t win the GOP nomination. Trump does not believe is small government, and he’d rather have Hillary Clinton choose the next USSC appointee than Ted Cruz.

What is trump upset about? According to polls he appears poised to win the nomination. The guy is unhinged.

Each of these have varied versions of who initiated the phone call as well as the reason for the conversation.

I agree.... file the papers Trumpy.... or shut up about it. File the lawsuit... or shut up about it. He’s not going to sue... but he is going to run 3rd party. Good riddance.

He signed that stupid pledge Reince placed before him. The very least the GOP can do is abide by their part of the pledge, which is to treat him fairly. They haven’t and as far as I’m concerned the faster irrevalance comes for the GOPe the better.

The ticket could be the TRUMP/CLINTON Ticket for 2016

Trump leaves Republicans to run independent, then Clinton looses to Sanders and Trump picks her for VP.

>>a threat stops being a threat after about 3 times of not following through.<<

If I'm not mistaken, this is the 5th lawsuit threat of the campaign season. He has threatened both candidates and media.

Get on with yo bad seff Donald. lol

Makes you wonder just how accurate those polls are....

Trump may eventually need to do this but he’s just telling the GOP to cool it with the crowd skewing which they (admittedly) did.

The GOP establishment is every bit as sold out to globalism as anyone. Maybe more so.

“Why would he do this if he had South Carolina in the bag? “

Why should he let the GOPe pull stunts like this?

Maybe Cruz can stop sitting there like some beaten kid and speak up too since they were booing him as well?

“The whining and blaming things on other people, who else do we know who does this?”

To Trump’s extent.. nobody. Either the RNC, or Megyn Kelley or some other boogeyman if the week gets under Trump’s thin skin.

Poor little Donald - can’t take the heat. Pathetic creature.

If he was such a great business man and leader, why didn’t he or his people try and get more of his supporters in the audience. Stop bitching and moaning and act like a leader.

To think this whinny, pathetic, self-absorbed dilettante could be the next POTUS is frightening. I hope he gets his but kicked in SC next week. At this point, I could care less who wins the nomination, as long as it’s not this clown.

If he does end up winning the nomination, his coalition of far-right cooks and far-left populists will be annihilated by either Clinton or Sanders.

Doesn’t this strategy of saying that “he might go for a third party” upset a lot of the GOP base and isn’t that why he stopped saying it. But then again, I have no idea anymore about this primary.

Unless, of course, he decides it is more important to strike a deal with them.

You know, instead of funding all abortion, only funding abortions up until the 8th month.

Or, instead of allowing in a million Islamofascist “refugees” into the US, striking a deal to allow in only 750,000, per year.

I was a Trump supporter until I realized we have no idea where he really stands on the core issues. His past truly belies what he says now. And he did, of course, say what great friends he is with Pelosi, Reid, and Schmuckie Schumer. That is, we’ve seen how he’s going to stab us in the back once he’s in power.

“Good God, man up and stop your damned whining, Trump!!”

So basically you want him to shut up and take it.

While people on this site bitch and moan about the GOPe 24/7?

Someone is calling these people out on it. Be happy for that and stop sticking up for them because you want to get a swipe in on Trump.
