He was fat.
He was a smoker.
And he was past average life expectancy for his demographic.

The simple math says he was on borrowed time. Really the third one alone says that. And when you’re on the clock you’re on the clock. Just because he wasn’t having an inability enjoying life doesn’t mean he wasn’t on the final go round. That’s part of the fun with heart attacks, people are cruising through their life and the heart says “game over” and unless you’re very lucky about which doctors you’re how far from the heart wins that argument.

Not all fat people drop dead overnight. But a lot of the people that DO drop dead overnight are fat, smokers, and past life expectancy.

You don’t have to have diminished capacity for the heart to declare “game over”. There’s different types of dying, some involve winding down, some just turn off the lights. I know a few folks who had heart attacks, some lived to tell the tale, some did not, none of them had diminished capacity before hand, some felt a little out of sorts in the days prior (oooh, just like Scalia), that’s generally the only warning (the whole left arm thing is basically a myth, it shows up on maybe 10% of heart attacks, yeah if you’re having it worry... although that looks like a female name so never mind, women pretty much never get the left arm thing). Always remember Jim Fixx, he was doing great, healthy as hell, out jogging when suddenly his heart said “hey Jim remember how you used to be an overweight 2 pack a day smoker with a family history of heart troubles?” and that was it for Jim.

The judge signed off on the certificate. That’s an investigation. You might not like how much investigation, but too bad.

Yep. And there was an autopsy performed on Jim Fixx.

No, that’s not an investigation. And you’re right in suggesting that I don’t like it.
Here’s the issue: If Scalia had been experiencing health problems or if he did have some diminished capacity causing changes in life style, or if he had been discussing stepping down from the Court, his death might not have seemed so sudden or unexpected. As far as I know, none of those things were happening, and his death apparently was, in fact, very sudden - and very opportune for people who may not have liked him. I don’t see the wisdom in overlooking this and assuming that it was time for him to die.
