Could explain why Trump was swinging so wildly last night...a couple of us who watched came away with the strong opinion after this and the last few debates that whatever Trump's problem is with Bush, it's very personal - maybe with him specifically because he thwarted Trump's plans for something he wanted to do with his developments in Florida, maybe going back aways with the Bush family in general - his attacks on Jeb seem way out of proportion to what one might expect from a frontrunner toward a fourth or fifth place contender.....

Could the millions of dollars in negative ads Bush has put out there have anything to do with Trumps derision of Bush? I would think so.

I think Trump thinks there will be dirty tricks tried at the Convention to make Jebbie the nominee...

Bush is the only candidate that Trump has to worry about, he is the one the establishment wants nominated. Although watching the debate it appeared that Cruz, Rubio and Bush were working in concert.

Cruz can and will be taken out at any time with his foreign birth if his dirty tricks don’t destroy his chances on his own.

I do believe that Trump doesn’t like the Bushes though and that may be part of it.

It could be personal but most likely an acknowledgement that Bush has the PAC $ to stay in the race all the way to the convention. I’m clearly not a Trump supporter but its likely Trump’s strategy is aimed at Bush’s PAC donors, to demoralize them to a point to stop donating. Just a thought.

I thought the same thing myself for awhile....but now I think its just the fact that he thinks Bush is a loser and he will not stop punching him until Bush is out of the race.

As long as he whack Bush he is seen as strong by clobbering something.

Both are possible at the same time however.....haha

Very good observation.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Why did Trump attack Jeb so viciously last night? Surely he doesn’t consider Jeb a threat.

It definitely seemed personal. But maybe the one Trump really, really hates and could do nothing about is George W. Bush.

George W. Bush, a popular two-term president that most people liked and most people still like. Maybe George did something to offend little Trumpy?

Or maybe it was Jeb... or Barbara? LOL

Out of proportion... oh, yeah.

But Trump is not a stable or a normal person. Look how he reacted to Megyn Kelly. News people take digs at candidates all the time. Who would let it drive them nuts?

Well, The Donald would.

Trump has not supported the Bushes since the Iraq war and many who knew Reagan, Trump and his father did know Reagan, were wary of the Bushes. It is well known that the Reagans never liked the Bushes.

http://www.newsweek.com/reagan-and-bush-call-it-snub-196034

“Ronald Reagan is not called the Great Communicator for nothing. In one brief sentence last week, the ex-president neatly summed up his view of George Bush: “He doesn’t seem to stand for anything,” Reagan reportedly told friends. The former president later denied ever making the remark, first published in The Washington Post, but in case anyone doubted his true feelings Reagan then refused to be seen with the president in public. He skipped a Bush fund-raiser in Los Angeles and barred the press from his house when Bush came calling.”...

“There has never been much love lost between the Bushes and the Reagans. The relationship between the ex-president and his former veep was always a marriage of convenience. After eight years of service so loyal that Bush was derided as a lap dog, Reagan only tepidly and belatedly endorsed his number two for president in 1988 and once mispronounced his name (”George Bosh”). Bush was more than happy to use the “Reagan-Bush” legacy to get elected, but he had little respect for the former president’s hands-off management style—or for Reagan’s hard line against the Kremlin.”

Reagan believed in Peace through Strength...that is Trump’s policy as well. The Bushes have never been the kind of politicians to capture the imagination or inspiration of the masses. The Bushes have had to use wars and warmongering to get conservatives to rally round the flag during all Bush administrations.

Seems to me that Trump going after Jeb and W is because they are the establishment.

The need to trounce Bush was last years fight. He simply won’t have very many delegates by the time they reach the convention no matter who goes that far. well unless it was just he and Trump in say the last 30 contests. I can’t see that being possible. Either Rubio or Kasich will be splitting votes with him as long as they last.
