Beat the Democrats over the head with their own words, again and again and again.
An, Ike said it was the biggest mistake he ever made.
This from the guy who had to answer for Market-Garden.
Ancient history. Democrats have no respect for precedent. It’s all what helps them now.
Bokmark
That’s all very interesting.
But the criteria are, there are no consistent criteria with liberals.
The liberals opposed recess appointments then because of fears that a Republican president would appoint a Supreme Court justice on the way out the door.
But since the situation today is that a good Democrat president might try to do that, the criteria have changed. Now they are not concerned about recess appointments, and in fact would be in favor of a recess appointment by Obama, if that what it takes to get an Obamabot liberal onto the court.
There you have it.
Write Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the judicial comittee, and tell him your support for not bringing anyone 0bama puts forth for a vote. Let the voters decide who gets to appoint the next SCOTUS justice.
Market-Garden was Montgomery's plan. Ike, Patton, etc. were surprised at the boldness of it.
“Not surprisingly, the Republicans objected, insisting that the Court should have a full complement of Justices at all times.”
The WP just had to throw that detail in there to make a connection between the GOP of today and of 1960.
Ike was Supreme Allied Commander, he had to sign off on it.
Well, the same could be said for republican’s. Uniparty one and all.
Yes poitics back then were so much nicer and less political, and republicans were not as evil nd spiteful and racist and ...... as they are today.
Here is a dead word from that era, “Solons”.
I know that. I was comparing the other “worst decision” Ike made. You have to hand it to Brennan...he must have been a YUGE disappointment.
What happened to all the “Solons”?

“Democrats have no respect for precedent. Itâs all what helps them now.”
Maybe the republicans should learn to play by Dem rules, because the dems are NOT going to change their play book when they keep scoring touchdowns with the same 6 plays.
the catch is ...” except to prevent or end a breakdown in the administration of the Court’s business. “
And that is what he will say...had to do it to prevent or end a breakdown in the administration of the Court’s business.
After the past few years it has become crystal clear, undeniable, just what the Republicans are. They put more effort into appearing to oppose Democrats than into actual opposition. I changed my affiliation from Republican to none, I couldn’t take any more of Boehner. He is a detestable bastard. I could not give my approval to any organization with him in it, never mind with him at its head. Then came the Republican’s treatment of Chris McDaniel.
They have never opposed the Democrats with anything but lip service. Their motto seems to be “we can do it better”, “we’re better at governance”. They are the caboose, the Democrats the engine. It’s been that way for nearly 100 years. Their wickedness and complicity has exploded over the past eight years. The present batch largely are a bunch of squishes. I have had enough of them. We need a second party.
Members of both parties are on the same gravy train and they don’t want to derail it.
