Beginning this summer, a visit to a local Army recruiting office will include a new set of gymnastic tests to help determine what military jobs a recruit is physically capable of performing.
Prospective soldiers will be asked to run, jump, lift a weight and throw a heavy ball â all to help the Army figure out if the recruit can handle a job with high physical demands or should be directed to a more sedentary assignment.
The new tests come as the Pentagon is opening all combat posts to women, a process that involves setting physical standards for every job that both men and women will have to meet.
As part of the effort, the Army will increase the number of female recruiters to better target women. The goal will be to add 1 percent each year for the next three years in order to get at least one woman at each of the Army's more than 780 larger recruiting centers across the country.
...Defense Secretary Ash Carter in December ordered the military services to allow women to compete for all combat jobs. But he and other military leaders have been adamant that the physical standards for the jobs will not be lowered in order to allow more women to qualify.

Ya....let’s “teach” women” how to single handed, carry a 200 lb. soldier to safety...
idiots!
Make it weak and easy to beat! That’s compassion, diversity, tolerance, hope and change...all in one nifty package!!
This would make a great campaign slogan for Hillary:
“If I’m elected President, there will be a car in every garage and a female in every foxhole.”
Years ago, one of the public safety departments had an qualification exam where the very first thing the applicant was asked to do was scale a wall unassisted. It weeded out a LOT of people then and there.
No push ups or pull ups? I wonder why?
Adapt ? Why bother? I think it’s another ploy to get rid of women or stir the pot even more. Military? BS! One more evil stunt in destroying our country.
Keep them out of combat arms!
Can’t carry that 140 pound ruck over that hill like the rest of the troops, or the extra ammo for the machine gun? If I were still an infantry platoon sergeant, any female that became assigned to me would get only those jobs requiring extra strength until they dropped out of the unit.
Many good men will die in combat from the weakness of females.
Lower standards... that’s how women soldiers can qualify for combat positions.
Now let’s wait for them to come home in body bags.
The leadership lies through their teeth. Standards will be lowered and such lowering will never be reported. Look forward to reports that the women being accepted are “Supergirls” able to stomp five Russians at the same time.
This is discriminatory.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Just a minute. Have to catch my breath. Lots of funny stuff this morning.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
The Dems are freaking out over women being drafted.
Female recruiters? Apparently they exist, but I’ve never seen one.
In other words, lower physical requirements.
Hey, I should sue due to age constraints. I am pretty old but why can’t I enlist? Change the standards. Enlist 12 year olds like ISIS.
Lord, forgive me for calling them fools because they are actually the enemy destroying the strength of our defense. The cracks from the people voting for immorality have allowed those in power to chisel out communist shaped tunnels through which they infiltrated our DOD and executive branch.
“The all female combat units we have deployed to test the combat effectiveness of women have performed excellently again and again.”
—something never said by anyone
If anyone was actually serious about it, they would simply do the obvious thing to see if it works. That they haven’t done this and never will should let everyone know where they are coming from.
Freegards
One rule, one standard for all. No exceptions.
Many, many, years ago when I was a young soldier I was sent to a far away place where there was a war going on. I was a clerk typist by MOS (Military occupational specialty) assigned to a major headquarters. I never expected to lift anything heavier than a stack of file folders and expected to spend my tour wearing clean starched fatigues and shined boots and dealing with the typical HQ BS.
But. BUT. It was February 1968. The situation was far from normal. Much to my surprise and chagrin, I was told to throw my duffle bag on that plane, that bus, that truck, that helicopter, etc. until finally I pitched my gear off the back of a deuce-an-a-half at an artillery battery compound in the central highlands where a hot fire mission was in progress. I was pointed at a five ton that was in the process of being unloaded in a hurry and told to “Help carry those rounds over to Number 4”. “Those rounds” were 155mm High Explosive projectiles weighing 97 lbs each. I backed up to the tailgate, like the other soldiers there. They loaded one round on each shoulder and pointed toward a howitzer emplacement about thirty yards away. I made it about three steps before I realized I could only hope to carry one round at a time. I struggled and was able to get about half a dozen rounds to the gun before I could no longer stand or walk.
I am trying hard to imagine an eighteen year old girl in that situation.
