Can Republicans really block Obama’s Supreme Court nomination for a year? Probably.
Washington Post ^ | February 13, 2016 | Amber Phillips

Come January 2017, Republicans have a chance at controlling the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House.

So it stands to reason that Republicans have very little incentive to even consider President Obama's suggestion for who should replace Justice Antonin Scalia, who died Saturday.

There's some historical precedent for them to do just that. A hazy rule dating back decades that congressional experts say is really more of a tradition suggests senators of the opposition party of the White House can oppose some judicial nominations in the months before a presidential election

McConnell has said many things that had no relation to what he then did. His words and deeds have no correlation except in the negative in which there is a high correlation.

Senator Cruz should immediately announce that he will nominate JANICE ROGERS BROWN to the Supreme Court immediately after he is inaugurated.

They could.
Will they, no.
Graham, McConnell, McCain, the entire RINO wing will clamor to be “inclusive” and “bipartisan”.

There is no way Obama can be allowed to make a third appointment to the Supreme Court.

The Republic can survive another 342 days until he is out of office.

There is no specified number of Supreme Court members.

Eight is plenty for now.

“McConnel is being quoted as saying the Senate will not accept any Obama appointment to the court, that the next President will get to pick.”

OH NO! If McConnel said that, we can be sure he is on his knees begging to kiss Obama’s butt as soon as he submits a name. McConnel is Quisling’s Quisling.

I just heard the bad news. Scalia was a giant of American jurisprudence.

I’m not exaggerating at all with what follows ... if the establishment GOP once again bends over for the minority and allows another Sotomeyer or Kagan political hack through the doors, it will not be the end of the GOP.
It will be the beginning of the end of the country we can barely remember as soon as they decide to hear a 2nd amendment case.
Now is the time to mourn a great Supreme Court justice.
But you know the `rats have already begun scheming and working.

No more Supreme Court Justices from that little turd!

Don’t forget that idiot, Hatch of Utah.

He’ll be moaning that of course the President has a right to select the nominee and get the nominee of his choosing approved.

He is such a tool.

Grassley joins call to delay Supreme Court nomination
"The fact of the matter is that it's been standard practice over the last 80 years to not confirm Supreme Court nominees during a presidential election year," Grassley said. "Given the huge divide in the country, and the fact that this President, above all others, has made no bones about his goal to use the courts to circumvent Congress and push through his own agenda, it only makes sense that we defer to the American people who will elect a new president to select the next Supreme Court Justice."
