yes the 16th needs to be repealed.

A national sales tax would capture the 10% of the economy that is underground. IT would also tax illegals.

Consumption should be taxed, not production. Incentives are completely backwards. We dont need TVs iphones expensive cars, golf courses etc until we fix manufacturing and build up our intellectual capital and knowledge base back up.

We should not be talking about a national sales tax (NST) until the 16A is repealed for the reasons given. Since repealing the 16A is next to impossible, we should basically forget about an NST.

And BTW, many do not distinguish between a national sales tax at the point of consumer purchase and a VAT, but their is a huge difference as explained in the earlier post. Don’t fall for the verbage of “consumption tax”. We should all know by now the lengths to which these scoundrels and thieves will go. “Consumption” can legitimately be construed to mean the use of raw materials to make the next stage in production or supply chain. Just stick with the simple “sale tax” conceptually and then forget about it because the 16A is intact.
