We should not be talking about a national sales tax (NST) until the 16A is repealed for the reasons given. Since repealing the 16A is next to impossible, we should basically forget about an NST.

And BTW, many do not distinguish between a national sales tax at the point of consumer purchase and a VAT, but their is a huge difference as explained in the earlier post. Don’t fall for the verbage of “consumption tax”. We should all know by now the lengths to which these scoundrels and thieves will go. “Consumption” can legitimately be construed to mean the use of raw materials to make the next stage in production or supply chain. Just stick with the simple “sale tax” conceptually and then forget about it because the 16A is intact.

I disagree. The priority should be to get rid of the 16th. period. Anything less is just marginal.

Tracking on the same Sanders course will guarantee high VAT, high sales taxes AND high marginal income tax rates.
