As a resident of California, yes, I wanted Bush to do something nationally that would repair the intent of Proposition 187.

Instead he doubled down, saying he not only didn’t think 187 was good, but that he wanted to grant amnesty to all of the illegals.

I was wishing we had a guy close to Bush that would whisper in his ear. We did. Ted Cruz. And what Ted was whispering in his ear was support for everything I stood against with regard to that issue.

So you can dismiss Ted’s activity there as irrelevant if you want, as a Californian who fellow Californians had expressed a deep desire to get illegal immigration under control, I am now appalled to know Ted was a part of the unraveling taking place in 1999.

Here was one more guy seemingly happy with the McCain/Kennedy mindset.

Now I’m supposed to buy off on him being a bedrock Conservative for life.

NO he wasn’t.

As for reading about his adventures in Texas, for some reason it doesn’t interest me.

I take your word for it. There’s more to life than Ted’s positives. That one thing in 1999 let me know what Ted was, and I’ve seen evidence that it continues on to today.

He’s not a guy I can get behind.

I appreciate your reasoned comments.

Please read Medellin v Texas, and other decisions. I do not have a closed mind on Trump, I ask of you, as along term FReeper, to merely look. You have been here since the late 90’s and me since ‘05.
The same things that brought us here still bind us together, kindred spirits.
I have accused you of hyperbole and rhetoric. I stand as guilty.
Just look, and comment,accordingly.
I will take the slings and arrows, and respond in kind.
With all due respect.....
While I am at it...
I still stand by my statement that Cruz is the best to nominate the next Justice over anyone running in both parties AND the sitting POTUS and VP.

C’mon man you are assuming Cruz whispered things in Bush’s ear. You know better than this. You are a respected FReeper.
I won’t discount Trump, but I have my reservations.
Surely , you can support Cruz as number 2, wiith reservations?

FYI, as a Californian, you will be happy to hear that Cruz defended a Ww2 Monument, that was a cross, when the ACLU wanted to take it down.
It was in the Mohave desert, and Cruz went before SCOTUS and defended your own states right to have it there. He won that 1st amendment challenge, for California. Please look it up, while I, again, ask you to look up Medellin v Texas.
