I think if this is accurate you are going to have a massive welfare state. We could be headed back to more historical norms of wealth concentration, pyramid shape.

Feudal estates, indentured ‘servants’ maybe some people in the woods hunting the ‘kings’ game and shooting arrows and swinging swords ...

will this AI not need repairs, updates, creation of new and better?

i was told TWENTY ONE years ago when i was learning Microsoft an typing to NOT BOTHER, some old beat up fellow cabbie said “there are talking typewriters now, they dont need typists!!!

In between graphics gigs, until it became steady i would type 100 wpm for 30 an hour at law firms.

i still know people in presentations centers at law firms and investment banks.

voice typing software isn’t even ON THE TABLE!!

there’s always a job to be found

you should see what my phone types out when i speak in my NY accent. “Go to the store” becomes “your mother’s a @#$#$” lol

seriously, you should see WHAT I ALMOST sent out before reviewing.

on top of everything else, the software has a dirty mind lol

Yes but how many people have the cognitive ability to do that type of work. Perhaps the top 20% will make out like bandits but the other 80% could be zero value workers.

It is coming whether people believe it or not.

The Quantum Chip will change everything and bring us into the Jetsons.

It’s suppose to be released to the Republic in 2024 or 8 years from now.

Except you need greater and greater education for even low paying jobs. Even if you have the mind to always being able to acquire more education, most people don’t have the money or time to be able to.always be taking a class.

An unintended consequence of a low interest rate policy, cheap capital makes it easier to invest in machines than hire flesh and blood people.

In such a world people in the USA will be guaranteed some monthly stipend - the money will come from taxing the production of robot factories/businesses rather than personal incomes. So most people will sit around watching TV, eating and getting really fat and lazy....like a lot of people today.

Time for some out-of-the-box brainstorming... (did i hit my quotient of buzzwords?)

Them robots will need: sales reps, installers, repairers, programmers, connectivity, power, recyclers, and someone to pull the power plugs when they get uppity.

Service industry jobs and electricians and toilet unclogers and windshield replacers and new tire stores and automotive mechanics will always be needed.

We don’t need a “race” of robots. The libs would protest for civil rights for them. If you didn’t buy one, you’d be called a “robophobe”. They’d all be programmed to vote for democrats. We’d get a movement called “REM” (Robots Existence Matters). If you didn’t convert to their beliefs (programming), they’d laser-zap your head off. They would start getting elected to city councils and city mayors. There would be a big row as to which robots were male, and which were female. They would establish robot unions.

Before you know it, we’d have Terminators.

In such a world, there will be two workers. A man and a dog.

The man’s job will be to feed the dog. The dogs job will be to make sure the man can’t touch the machinery.

You have that right. There is a serious problem that is affecting all advances economies. What do we do with the people in the bottom third of the IQ scale. These people cannot become programmers/IT techs/network analysts or even electricians or plumbers. There was a time when a strong back and a willingness to work was enough to provide a decent living. Those days are gone. As the cost of labor has increased these people have been priced out of the market.

I don’t have an answer but the problem is real and getting worse as technology replaces labor in ever more occupations.

There are a lot of skilled labor jobs going begging, because we train people to be administrators and overseers, when we need fewer chiefs and more Indians. And there are many other jobs people do better, and their employment in those areas will go up as labor costs drop.
