MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd were appalled by a new Ted Cruz commercial attacking Hillary Clinton, labeling it “vicious” and “rough.” The campaign spot parodied the 1999 cult classic Office Space, showing “Hillary Clinton” angrily destroying a computer hard drive.
After playing a clip, a disgusted Chuck Todd condemned, “That was a little rough. That was a little uncomfortable to watch.” Todd added, “That looked vicious” and suggested the commercial crossed the line.
Mitchell lectured, “First of all, Ted Cruz is not running against Hillary Clinton yet. And I just think the parody is great in politics,” but “I'm not sure it plays in South Carolina, the Bible Belt.”
It’s rare on MSNBC to see such concern for the sensibilities of Christians.
Given that Chuck Todd has tossed softballs to Hillary Clinton on the e-mail scandal and Mitchell was thrilled when Bill Clinton hit the campaign trail for his wife, perhaps the journalists should have realized the ad wasn’t aimed at them.
A transcript of the exchange is below:

ANDREA MITCHELL: Ted Cruz has had very edgy, clever, some would say, ads. But there's a question. I just want to play part of this Office Space spoof for you. Because I was talking to a political science professor just yesterday about civility and discourse in this campaign. We talked about profanity, a lot of other obvious issues and then this pops up.
[Clip of Ted Cruz “Office Space” ad.]
MITCHELL: Now—
CHUCK TODD: That was a little rough. That was a little uncomfortable to watch.
MITCHELL: Yeah! First of all, Ted Cruz is not running against Hillary Clinton yet. And I just think the parody is great in politics or anything, but —
TODD: Whatever. There was the line. That looked vicious. It was sort of, whatever it is, whatever that line —
MITCHELL: I'm not sure it plays in South Carolina, the Bible Belt.
TODD: I'm not sure if it does either. I don’t know if it does either.

H->! just found out that wiping the server with a cloth just wasn’t enough of a cleaning activity.
Leftists lie. They’re just trying to cull outrage, trying to manipulate events for their side.
Why is Cruz going so easy on Hillary? If I had made the ad she would have been in an orange jumpsuit.
I love it!
Nice ad done by Cruz
It’s a powerful ad.
Politics ain’t beanbag!
The return fire will also be powerful.
What a bunch of Wussies.
Mitchell and Todd would be laughing hysterically if any GOP candidate was being skewered on SNL.

Who cares what two of the Dems’ TV personalities think. What we want to know is, what does Clinton think of this clever parody?
I anticipate a perfunctory cackle, then a dismissive Hillary ‘stinkeye’ to the jerbalist with the temerity to bring this up with Her Heinous.
Yeah, as a Cruz fan, it was a little trashy... IMHO... does drive home the message.
Chuck Todd (Todd...) wasn’t even in the running for the job he now has. Even John Kerry has more creds than Todd (Todd...).
Andrea Mitchell doesn’t see any need to divulge her ties to anyone in politics even while she has a seat at a debate.
At least Kristol, on Fox Sunday would say that his wife was working for someones campaign.
...Todd...
He certainly has brought ‘gravitas’ to the show he’s on, what with the big open stage (reminds me of a loft in Soho), and him walking around from spot to spot (with other guests sitting respectively in the background) as he deigns to enlighten upon them with his presence.
...Todd
Has Vince Foster commented on the viciousness of this ad?
Love it. Especially with these liberals clutching their pearls. And why? Not because it hits Hillary hard but because they think pop culture is their exclusive province. Conservatives can’t be hip or funny. How dare Cruz hijack a cult classic like Office Space and appropriate it for his own purposes.
I guess this does clear the air on whether Cruz is willing to take the fight to Hillary. Wow.
An orange jumpsuit doesn’t make sense to the content of the ad.
