“The Dallas Morning News used to be a conservative newspaper.”

You’re right.

I lived there from late 70s to 1999. Because of the work I did, I took both the DMN and the Dallas Times Herald. Until the DTH went out of business in 91, the DMN was the conservative paper while the Times Herald was very liberal.

Once it became the only newspaper in town, the DMN no longer had to cater as much to their advertisers’ politics. This allowed the liberal ideology of its writers and editors to sweep in and eventually poison the paper’s “news” sections the way it does everything it touches.

I stopped taking the DMN when I read their take on the Branch-Davidian Waco Reno fiasco. That was it for me. Well, that and the one time I saw two gay guys being lauded in the bridal section. It was three years after that I was on the panel. I honestly thought that maybe the editorial section was still sane. But, no way Jose.
