I say the following with absolute respect and affection.

Having been a self conscious conservative starting in my teens during the 60’s, and having seen the slow destruction of this country for all those years, I believed after Reagan that I would never live to have the sort of candidate I could love and support with absolute joy and enthusiasm, the sort of candidate leftists take for granted every election.

Even when I liked Cruz very much last summer, I saw his flaws and limitations, and I resigned myself to supporting a guy I liked but could not love.

At first I despised Trump, for all the same reasons I see on FR daily. But with an open mind I watched him speak and especially watched his amazing interviews, and came to realize this is the candidate I could love and support enthusiastically, a true winner who loved America and Americans, someone who was on my side.

I really, truly, sincerely wish that all conservatives could feel the joy and optimism in my heart and the confidence in my soul. I wish we could share this unique historical moment together.

I realize the bitterness and opposition is too great. I wish it were not. And I hope in the coming months Trump’s candidacy will be a source of common happiness and optimism, so we can all celebrate together.
