I think that isn't accepted at all. The charge is that GWB could have done more to stop it. There were a number of red flags thrown up, not acted on. "The wall," described by Jamie Gorelick, could have been demolished before the WTC was. Not saying it's a fair argument, but that's the nature of the argument.
I agree, but the problem becomes the overwhelming size and scope of the FedGov and the Executive branch. Did Bush know about the Gorelick Wall? Could he have? Does it matter since “the buck stops here”?
I have significant problems with Bush, but I’m not convinced that he could’ve stopped 9/11 but didn’t.
