Although the decision to inform a workforce of 1,400 employees that they'll soon be losing their jobs to Mexico is an admirable one from the standpoint of candor, it hardly makes for a good recipe for workplace morale.

A cell phone video taken at Carrier Air Conditioner in Indianapolis shows the exact moment that the plant and union workers were told that the company had decided to shift production south of the border.

"The best way to stay competitive and protect the business for longterm is to move production from our facility in Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico," says the company representative at the microphone.

Although the change would not take effect until 2017, the reactions from the gathered restless crowd were telling.

No kidding.

I recommend that every FReeper go to the library and get this book:

Boom, Bust & Exodus

http://www.amazon.com/Boom-Bust-Exodus-Maquilas-Cities/dp/0199765618

I borrowed it from the library and read it. I promise you DJT has read it too.

But.... But, globalist Cruz is the true religious Christian. We must vote for him despite his cloture vote on TPA. Even if he gets our jobs back we must not vote for the heathen Trump.

Let’s see. Ohio is a right-to-work state, right? /sarcasm

Mandatory union membership, right? Voted democrat the last two elections, right?

Looks like you are a little confused about a couple of things, not the least of which is just what "Right to work" means. It looks like you have it backwards. (And in the wrong State)

Right, but those workers are unionized.

Of course he does. Golf courses and hotels. He didn’t build them here and then ship them there.

That was a really inane statement on your part.

Vote for Trump would help them how?

The one thing about Trump voters; they can see further into the future than those supporting other candidates can, and from your question, further than you can.

We have children and grandchildren whose future is very important to us.

Trump should buy the rights to that video ASAP.

there is an EXCELLENT political advert there. Its only going to become more relevant over the next months as the stock market and economy slides.

Big Difference between having a foreign resort, or interest in one, and sending Manufacturing to Mexico. But than again you already know that, and BS anyway.

Just for the sake of argument, should not a business have the economic freedom to make any decision that maximizes profits for their stockholders? (sarcasm?)

Hope the company has trouble getting workers in Mexico. So many Mexicans are here living off welfare why go back to Mexico and have to work when goodies are free here.

Mandatory government regulations, benefits, health care, etc have impacts. When people decide to buy an AC (or any product), they want to pay less $, not to pay more just to fund benefits.

Worked for Reagan. Once it becomes more expensive to move the jobs or keep the jobs in Mexico things will turn around. Plus, Trump’s reduction on taxes for money moved back into the country will return investment. It is a combination of factors. Prices will jump temporarily, but you must extract pain on the companies that moved or they will not return and they will continue to move. Got to do it.

Well if you’re gonna claim it as a postive then you should at least be honest.

But then Trump does have problems being honest.

Apparently the new efficiency rules by the EPA in their fight against climate change has caused this.

I went through a plant announcement like that one 35 years ago,
and since then I have witnessed several other similar ones.

The very next thing that will happen is that any employees with
motivation and marketable skills will resign and go elsewhere.

Management will then be left trying to run a manufacturing plant
that is staffed with unmotivated and unskilled workers.
