Although the decision to inform a workforce of 1,400 employees that they'll soon be losing their jobs to Mexico is an admirable one from the standpoint of candor, it hardly makes for a good recipe for workplace morale.

A cell phone video taken at Carrier Air Conditioner in Indianapolis shows the exact moment that the plant and union workers were told that the company had decided to shift production south of the border.

"The best way to stay competitive and protect the business for longterm is to move production from our facility in Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico," says the company representative at the microphone.

Although the change would not take effect until 2017, the reactions from the gathered restless crowd were telling.

The execs of Carrier were asked to name specific regulations that were causing this move and they couldn’t name any..

Tariffs are less onerousness. You don’t have to pay them and no paper work. Income taxes are mandatory and onerous. Yo are not to old to understand that are you?

Limbaugh did a good job brainwashing a lot of fringe “conservatives”.

Thanks for your reply..

>>>Tariffs are less onerousness.

A very very low tariff would be less onerous than a large one, yes. :)

But tariffs raise the prices of goods for the country that imposes them. (If they don’t, it’s not an effective tariff and they are effective to the measure that they do raise prices.) It’s similar to a devaluation of your currency.

This raises the cost of living; it raises the cost of products used by business - raw and other materials, which are then also passed on to the prospective buyers. This makes goods produced by the country with tariffs more expensive and less competitive.

You increase the cost of doing business in America and the cost of living in America.

We should want other economies to increase tariffs not our own.

If individual persons do things contrary to the interests of the people of the United States, we call them traitors.

If corporations want to be treated as persons, fine. Call them what they are. And then realize it’s time to treat them exactly as any other person who turns their back on our country. Let Mexico have them, and strip them of all of the benefits of being Americans.

>>>Tell me about the anti-competitive regulations you think he’s for.

I started this conservation in reply to a poster who said this event created 1,400 Trump voters. I asked what voting for Trump would do for them.

Posters responded what they believed Trump would do, and I’ve argued against these policies. If these are not Trump’s views, then that would be good.

Do you think the posters I’ve responded to on this are not accurate in what Trump would do? If so, again, that would be a good thing.

Thanks for your reply.

Which should incentivize production in the country that imposes them thereby making the cost of domestic products lower than foreign products. Which would also create jobs further stimulating the economy.

I'm not defending companies moving offshore but I'm not going to condemn it either.

If I can personally take advantage of a tax loophole I'm going to do it for my own personal profit.

No, the incentive for the country with the tariff is not to make a lower cost product. The products of their competitors are artificially raised by government.

Moving an operation to a foreign country is a political move. So the people have a right to react and to petition the government to protect the US from gloBULL corporations predatory tactics.

I’m sorry, I should have said:

the incentive for the country with the tariff is not to make a lower *priced* product.

Companies always have incentives to lower costs. What’s different is the incentive to lower prices in a tariff county.

If the price of the competitors’ product is artificially raised, there is less incentive to reduce prices because some competitors are at a price disadvantage. Government has put its thumb on the market scale.

The whole point of tariffs is to raise prices on some competitors. This means increasing costs for many companies and consumers.

It’s a bad thing when government increases its control.

In brief the proposals included tariffs, increased taxes and regulation.

The global government many multinational business leaders are seeking is to be socialist. Things, politically, are not always so cut and dry and never have been.
