Mexico.
OH MY, well I guess these folks would rather have a union than a job!!
Yes ans we the people can demand our politicians slap a tariff on them. Trade is politics, and vice versa.
Pretty soon there will be illegal immigration the other way.
Of course a democrat is going to say that. And it probably wasn’t one regulation but many regulations.
It’s a classic case of an older (1950) facility with a long time unionized workforce making about 2X what they would in a start-up situation.
It would be great if all our mfg jobs could pay 50 - 70 grand a year but that’s not the reality today.
âU.S. Senator Joe Donnelly says the head of the Carrier Corporation could not point to one federal regulation which the company says was responsible for its decision to relocate facilities in Indianapolis and Huntington to Mexico.â
“Nintendo did the same thing back when NAFTA was implemented by G.W Bush.”
Er..Wut? Bill Clowntoon implemented NAFTA.
If ‘Joe business man’ wants to send his manafacturing to Mexico, ‘Joe American worker can elect politicians to deny Joe Businessman the ability to sell his product in America”.
You and I see eye to eye most of the time. But you know Carrier could have moved INSIDE the USA and gone non union easily. I hope these sleaze ball execs get kidnapped when down there setting up their stupid plant.
That was passed with Clinton in office but the old man Bush was all for it. Ross Perot tried to warn the people but the people didn’t listen.
Trump has a plan to lower corporate taxes to 15% and to pass penalties in the form of import taxes on American companies who have chosen to move offshore to take advantage of cheap labor.
He is also in favor of rolling back excessive regulations on American businesses that result in higher costs, and he has a plan to repatriate trillions of American dollars that are presently stranded offshore because of excessive confiscatory taxation.
Trump will have every American business standing in line to come back to US soil and he will have nonstop pleas from foreign competitors to do the same.
He knows what to do and he knows how to do it.
George Washington is rolling over in his grave at 500 rpm.
I think it is an insult to move to Mexico and not another state in the union. We 320 million people here and the south is anti union.
It’s more government, less freedom.
In this case, what would Carrier do? Ask permission from the Trump government and find out what their fines are?
If they create 500 new jobs in the U.S. do they get a credit? If they decide to open a new facility in Australia, is that a penalty? How is it calculated?
It’s more government, less freedom, bad for economy.
>>I hope we elect someone who will stand the F up for American workers<<
>>I hope we elect someone that removes the PC crap from running a business, hobbling business with increased labor costs through mandatory benefits, etc.<<
All in the same. We’ve lost millions of manufacturing positions in this country. The middle class has been crushed.
This IS a national security issue, not merely a jobs/protection issue.
We are losing critical skills in this nation. One day, if heaven forbid we ever have another World War, America will be sucking hind tit for lack of skilled professionals.
This also has driven millions into poverty. Our nation is Trillions in debt. We cannot produce enough to dig our way out of this hole. Millions will retire with very little savings...again, a national security emergency. Unfunded liabilities will skyrocket. All Americans tax burden WILL go up in an attempt to sustain the system.
Again, this is not just about folks losing their jobs. America will collapse if we do not begin producing. The retail sector/services sector cannot buoy the whole nation.
