Donald Trump has now made clear that the thrust of his campaign will not be conservatism. It will instead be populism and nationalism.

>> The nation is in decline; what we need is the GREAT MAN, who will be our savior <<

>> Where have I heard something like that before? <<

France ca. 1790?

Italy in the 1920’s?

China in the 1940’s?

Argentina in the 1950?

Venezuela in the 1990’s?

Gotta love the proverbial Man on the White Horse. He’s always gonna be good for what ails you.

“Cruz’s principled loner style”

Great phrase. I’m not convinced of the principled part - his waffling on immigration and trade and questionable donors, plus dirty politicking make me think he’s just another politician using the American people for his own benefit.

When everyone wants to raise taxes and you want to lower them.. how do you compromise with that?
When your own party says they want to stop Obamacare then moves to fund it, who again is the one not standing up for the promise made?

Trump is pro TRUMP.. if its in the countries best interest that is just a side effect.

>> This fake headline crap is pure propaganda! Its the new tool of the left but now I see Breitbart using it? <<

Breitbart seems to specialize in the technique. For example, check out just about any article by Julia Hahn. More than half of the time, her articles don’t present convincing evidence that bears on the headline. Other Breitbart contributors are almost as questionable. The situation is blatant that I seldom bother anymore to read a Breitbart article. Just too likely to be a waste of time.

Neither does Dear Leader Trump.

(So that makes at least two of you!)

>> Trump obviously isn't Mussolini on policy <<

Well yeah, I gotta agree with you, since Trump's main policy is to make America great again, whereas Mussolini's main policy was to make Italy great again.

Ergo, the two men are somewhat different when it comes to policy.

Some Indy Voters were torn between Trump and Sanders. that says a lot.

And less than 8 Months ago FR was all Cruz. Now its like Trump HQ now.

It happened so fast. My head is still whirling.

Actually I think we are going to see God's Judgement on America coming and it could very well be through a Trump Presidency.

Go ahead and build the wall Mr. Trump. However if we don't clean out the sesspool of immorality within those walls and return to GOD as a nation, God's Judgement will be a sure thing and America will go down, wall and all!!

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.I Thessalonians 5:3

I do believe that Trump will get a LOT of help from the Democrats who hope that when elected, he will take off his fake face, and become the liberal he truly is, once again.

But it will be too late.

Ted Cruz IS the one to lead us out of this mess and back to the America our Founding Fathers' established.

I'm holding fast to a ANCHOR that will not move.... who does not change!

Dunno. You may be correct. But as I recall, President Romney had some huge crowds in Ohio and Virginia during 2012.

What’s wrong with America is its popular and academic culture. Dysfunctional politics is a symptom, not the disease. No president is going to fix America’s culture.

Trump has a lot of great ideas but something screams FAKE. I want to believe, but my gut is sending warnings.

Excellent point!

Thanks for putting into words what I have been thinking of late.

Not that I don't understand that Trump has a yuuuuge ego--anyone seeking the office of President would have to!

But I don't think it is only his ego that is motivating Trump--it is also an understanding that our ship of state is sinking! So, instead of just handing out life preservers, he is willing to dive down into the murky waters of politics and rally enough people to support him in fixing the holes that bad policies have created in our ship's hull!

“If you put Audie Murphy at the head of a column of little college snowflakes and they don’t follow him into battle, is that his fault?”

If he is saying he is a leader, then yes. A leader isn’t a leader only because people follow him. A leader displays qualities that draw people in, make people want to listen to them and consider their point of view. At times, a leader needs to convince others, go out and work to draw in more people, push his objective and be forceful about it without alienating.

The only part of that Cruz has is the forceful part.

“but Cruz does have the sand to stand his ground against hostile media “

um, Trump has done this more than Cruz. Who declined to go to the debate, with their make-all-candidates-look-bad questions. What Trump has done though, is refuse to let the media win while at the same time using them and getting free publicity - and in some bizarre cases, getting them to even go along with him.

“...be less likely to measure success by making deals than accomplishing Conservative goals.”

If you read Trump’s books - or are in business for yourself - ‘deals’ mean being beneficial to yourself. Not like the deals the Republicans have made. One cannot stay in business, and definitely not succeed at it, by making deals contrary to one’s objectives.

“I admire someone who will stand alone, if need be, to fulfill the trust of those who put them there to do just that, whether taking that stand produces any lasting result or not.”

I agree. The lone Chinese man standing in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square comes to mind.

However, with the mess this country is in and with the possibly irreversible damage being done to it, we need someone that WILL produce results ASAP. Talk is cheap. (Except when it’s a politician or lawyer talking; then you can bet it will cost you!)

I don’t think working effectively well with the Dems in Congress will further conservative interests. Cruz will tell Dems to “Embrace your own suck”. They deserve a beatdown like none before.

and President Take-No-Prisoners Cruz will have General Mitch McConnell and his adjutant Paul Ryan leading the charge for him! Yeah that's a winning team to smack down the other party (just like Reid and Pelosi did for obama) and advance the conservative agenda! The American public enjoys sweaty mud wrestling between the WH and Congress while they get up and go to work everyday and watch Congress drain their paychecks and illegal immigrants flood their neighborhoods- . Gridlock is a sure vote getter Ooo-ra
