We are trying to elect the President of the United States not the bestest Christian. The one who beats the bible the hardest is not necessarily the bestest Christian anyway.

Usually the opposite.

The one who polishes his own halo the brightest is usually trying to blind you to their wrongdoing.
Like his public “apology” to Carson.
He didn’t confess anything, just said the words, like a 4year-old who has just tripped his little sister and doesn’t want any consequences.

Is there a way to tell?

Is there a way to tell?

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

1 John 3:21-23
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

TY. Well put.

I, myself, am agnostic and this type of pandering (yes, pandering as much as Rubio/Jeb to the Hispanics) really turns me off.

I’ll not knock anyone’s religion and, knowing our Founding, have great respect for the same.

But I’ve seen it used as a bludgeon. “Godly” Kasich comes to mind, attempting to shame the populace in supporting theft for welfare (aka brothers keeper, if you’re Christian you must take care of the ‘poor’, etc.).

‘Ol Ted starts w/ the pastor cadence and quoting scripture every other sentence, he’ll start losing a LOT of support.

IMO, one can debate constitutionality w/out referencing the ‘Good Book’ (ala they used ‘their Creator’ for a reason).
