When socialist Bernie Sanders beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in a landslide Tuesday in New Hampshire, he crushed her among young voters by a whopping 83 percent.
Tuesday night in New Hampshire, 83% of voters aged 18-29 chose Sanders, according to exit polls. And those voters were a full one-fifth of the electorate.
Sander's message of "income inequality" (Hillary has one too, but her Wall Street ties and personal wealth make it transparent) is popular with young people drowning in student loan debt (thanks to liberals proclaiming college is for everyone and by promoting the purchase of worthless degrees without the prospect of future employment) and those who have sympathy for occupy wall street. The sympathy also comes after 40 years of liberal indoctrination in public education, starting at kindergarten and ending in PhD programs, imposed by Marxists posing as teachers.
Sanders sat down with Late Show host Stephen Colbert earlier this week, which is widely viewed by young people, to talk about his New Hampshire victory. Bernie Sanders Explains Why Heâs Different From Trump
Although Sanders excites young people, the reason they do is sobering. According to analysis in the Washington Post, a majority of millennials now view socialism as preferable to capitalism. Keep in mind the millennial generation is 83 million people strong and the largest generation ever produced. Millennials outnumber Baby Boomers by nearly 10 million.
In a recent YouGov survey, respondents were asked whether they had a "favorable or unfavorable opinion" of socialism and of capitalism. Below are the results of their answers, broken down by various demographic groups.
As you can see, overall, 52 percent expressed a favorable view of capitalism, compared with 29 percent for socialism. Republicans, those in families earning more than $100,000, and people age 65-plus had an especially high regard for capitalism compared with socialism, but respondents in almost every demographic category demonstrated the same preference to some degree.
There were just two exceptions to this pattern: Democrats rated socialism and capitalism equally positively (both at 42 percent favorability). And respondents younger than 30 were the only group that rated socialism more favorably than capitalism (43 percent vs. 32 percent, respectively).
The other problem here is millennials have no idea what socialism actually is or what living under socialism feels like. Over to you, Greg Gutfeld: Greg Gutfeld's Socialism 101 Class
Free-market conservatives have a lot of work to do, not just on the campaign trail, but in the education system to reverse this trend.
Bernie needs a tooth implant. I guess his state doesn’t offer free dental care.
College students hear FREEBIES YAY and go with it. Do they really believe that Bernie will give it to them for their vote, who knows, they are morons, zombies for the progressive left who have convinced them that Capitalism is horrible. Let them spend a week in Venezuela, the Socialist Utopian Society and see how they like it, they can come back and report all of the Socialist glory, like waiting for hours for toilet paper, hey who needs to worry about student loans when you can’t wipe your own fanny
Most people don’t get it until it hits them on a personal level. Your son is smarter than most and that’s because he has good parents.
When our kids were in their early teens be would give them examples like ‘teaching the man to fish’ that they could understand.
Free college for everyone is a much bigger than the bank bail out.
My university raked in $220 million in one semester. Multiply that by 2.5 and x the number of higher learning centers in the US (4,726) x 10 years = in the trillions.
They will ask themselves, why bother working at all.
Young people are more apt to believe extravagant promises, hence young people tend to be liberals who believe pie-in-the-sky politicians (RATS). Most people get smarter as they age, although some idiots remain libs(the media), and some pretend to believe in liberalism to gain power (Hillary).
The reason is because of government schools.
Children indoctrinated in government school are likely to grow up to be adults who are subservient to government.
The joys and benefits have certainly been preached to the Millennials for long enough, all their lives. They cannot even go to their own parents for any guidance, as THEIR parents had been hearing the “benefits” of socialism often enough themselves to have sometimes grave doubts about any dangers it may have posed “in the past”.
Two generations have passed since the “hot” wars against Communist expansion pretty much became history. Even Viet Nam, ostensibly fought to rid South Viet Nam of the scourge of impending doom by being overrun by the North Vietnamese, and of course, lost in the end, is not being taught as the history that it was.
This time, of course, the socialist ideal shall be achieved because now there are the “right” people to implement it.
(Oh, hell, do I HAVE to include the < /sarcasm > tag?)
There was also the social stigma of being pregnant and not married.
“It’ll be the millenials who will have to deal with the mess and it won’t be pretty. But it is all their choice.”
Actually, although the millenials have been completely misguided by their “educators,” the current brand of “crony capitalism” must share a large measure of their distrust of capitalism. When you see what GW Boosh did with the Wall St. bailout that was perpetuated by Obola, it’s not hart to see why Sanders woefully stupid ideas have traction with they youngsters today. We simply can’t let greedy, crooked bastards get away with stealing literally trillions of dollars of working folks money, and no expect this kind of backlash. President Trump needs to prosecute and jail the likes of Jon Corzine.
How could they know, if they have never been taught about it?
Everyone getting a trophy works.
The young do not know of bad things, and cannot discern a tootsie roll from dog poo. Of course they like socialism; it sounds nice.
I don’t think at his age does he need a tooth implant. What he needs is a brain implant
Exactly why I think EVERY republican candidate should be advertising to the millennials that they are in fact the ones who will be working to fill the government coffers.
You are of course correct. But these people are math challenged. If you confiscated every penny of wealth from “the 1%” it could fund the Federal Government for something like 89 days.
Bernie has “socialized dentistry” teeth, like a Brit.
These young MORONS think the economy of America and Denmark are somehow comparable. Yeah, a homogeneous society of 5 million, mostly white, hard working, Northern Europeans are comparable to an America filled with 50 million Blacks, and probably now 45 million of Central America’s poor.
Maybe if the Republican Party got back to its founding principles of anti-racism and anti-oligarchy, we’d have a fighting chance at creating a viable youth sub culture of young patriots. But we persist in being really bad at understanding anything about the dynamics of culture formation and will continue to get our butts kicked down History Lane leftist elements who are far more adept and trend spotting and youth psychology. Upgrade or die.
