On Wednesday, Donald Trump finally came out of the closet: yes, he admitted, he's no conservative, but conservatives are the problem with the country anyway. Here's his tweet:
Trump is half-right - the Republican Party has promised, over and over again, that it would implement conservative policies. Then they reneged, disappointing their conservative base over and over. That's one reason the two leading candidates for the Republican nomination are Trump and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), both hated by the establishment but supported by grassroots conservatives.

Hey, the Trumpbots don’t care. As one person stated, they didn’t care if he personally did abortions in the West Wing they would still vote for him. Remind me of Perot supporters!
I’m a proud conservative! I don’t know about you Jack!
Oh baloney Trump never said he wasn’t conservative. It’s the authors butthurt that leads him to jump to this illogical conclusion based on his tweet.
That is what I keep saying. Conservatives have failed the country for several decades.
There is nothing wrong with what Trump said.
I retweeted his tweet:
ENTRENCHED POLITICIANS say & promise everything CONSERVATIVES want to hear during elections, but ALWAYS RENEGE!
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Remember, it was the Republican Party, with the help of Conservatives, that made so many promises to their base, BUT DIDNâT KEEP THEM! Hi DT
Amen, amen and BTTT, dearest onyx!!!
Monica Crowley: Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and the GOP revolt The political earthquake has just begun
I’m late to the thread, but I see your post has been exposed for the desperate lie it is, by Onyx and Lakeshark.
Good work guys.
You just got back from a temporary suspension, yet you're still name calling.
Didn't learn a damn thing, did you?
Trump is talking about the conservative Establishment.
That's why he capitalizes "Conservatives" and distinguishes them from the party's "base" (who most people would assume to be conservative).
There are a lot of problems with Trump, but Ben isn't convincing anybody not to vote for him.
Rather the opposite, in fact.
If Trump is the answer what is the question?
Conservative or not ...not one Republican voted for Obamacare.
‘Gotta a teeShirt for Trump supporters
“My Imperial President TRUMPS your Imperial President”’
Yep, and also “my narcissistic President TRUMPS your narcissistic President”.
Trump doesn’t seem too intelligent at all, and that’s worrisome. I’d much rather Cruz win, and that’s how I’m voting in the SC primary.
At least we don’t have to pretend anymore.
I’m sure this will be fine with Trump’s supporters since they seem to support Trump above all.
Really? Since when did being a registered from New York with liberal positions on issues become a “conservative” and when did having a 60% unfavorable rating (8 points higher than Hillary and nearly double Cruz’ rating) give you the best chances of winning. Conservatives are definitely able to say who is and who isn’t a conservative. Trumpeteers are not going to obliterate the meaning or wish it away.
Yeah, that Trump guy can't seem to get things together! He's so stupid that all can do is create jobs, create wealth, and promise to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! (do I need the /sarcasm tag?)
In the meantime, Teddy Bare concern trolls throw anything hoping it sticks! Unfortunately, Trump has everything they need! His life is YUGE! Yet, he is willing to give up so much to help his fellow Americans.
Stupid? Anything but!!!
Boner and Romney’s handpicked successor. You were right, just wanted to add in the other point. Ryan is a Romneybot acolyte.
There is no God but Conservatism, and Ted Cruz is it’s prophet.
Where have I heard something like that before?
That is the beauty of our Republic, we each get to vote for who we believe will represent us the best. We all have our own criteria...
I am no longer a one issue voter.
I am no longer going to vote for someone who claims to be a conservative.
I am no longer going to vote for someone who will roll over when attacked.
Does Trump have all the qualities I would want in a President, no.
But he does have the one quality that I want to represent me, and that is no fear in defending himself against real and fake accusations.
At this stage of the race I am discounting every negative story on Trump for the simple reason that the Democrats and their friends in the media have no problem with lies and distortion.
So it does not matter at this point in time.
