Naa, he went overboard with Rubio. Gang of Eight stuff simply SHOULD NOT BE FORGIVEN - not this soon, if ever. In other words, you cannot be a conservative and still be for open borders...Rush was saying that other than open borders (i.e., supporting the demographic transition of this country to single-party Democrat rule), Rubio is a FINE CONSERVATIVE.
I agree that if we ignore Rubio’s attempt to make the Republican Party about as relevant in DC as they now are in California (thanks to Reagan’s amnesty), then Rubio would be a good conservative...but most of Rush’s listeners prefer to allow their children and grandchildren to live in a 2-party system, rather than in one that resembles Venezuela.
Rush REALLY seems to miss that point, and instead seems to think that Rubio should be nominated simply because of his “great life story”.
Rush seems to make sure that any candidate that has a chance to win, is not too damaged. He may back Rubio, but he also backs Cruz and Trump. I’ve heard him defend many candidates who are gone like Florina or Christie. Rush wants a strong candidate going into November. But he will not picked one.
To me, Rubio and Bush seem very damaged. But their backers are so huge that they can keep going. There is a way of thinking that suggests if Christie, Bush, Kasich, and Rubio condense to a single candidates there is enough votes for that candidate to win. I don’t think so, but that is what many elites think. And Rush is not going to destroy anyone of that group because they may take all the elite votes.
Back when HW was president Rush spent the night at the White House. I don’t know what HW did to Rush, but Rush has been the voice of the GOPe ever since. Most of the time he gets to pretend he is a real conservative but believe me when the establishment yanks his chain Rush does their bidding.
Aside from that, Mrs. Kennedy, how was your trip to Dallas?
