5 faith facts about Ted Cruz: It's all about God's work

(RNS) Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who ties every move he makes, every breath he takes, to God, began his Iowa caucus victory speech Monday (Feb.1), "To God be the glory."

He's been that way all his 45 years - from his childhood in evangelical private schools, up through his 2012 Senate race aimed squarely at social conservatives, up to his campaign kickoff at Jerry Falwell-founded Liberty University.

Here are five faith facts about Ted Cruz:........."

Yes, that does sound delusional. I don’t like any politician referencing God, which became de riguer post Reagan. Prior to him, our Presidents were careful about the Separation of State and Church issue...and religion was considered a private matter. Tolerance was expected of differences, which worked really well for a long time. Meaning it used to be rude to ask what religion or where are you from (meaning your dead family members country of origin.) Sounds trite, but my parents taught us to be proud and grateful to be called American, a hyphen was considered a sign of not adapting to life here, e.g., one grandpa refused to learn much English through the 60 years he lived here. He was considered backward and stubborn. Now I can’t communicate with people I live near or who do jobs for me because they have no need to blend. Sad.

I thought we already cleared this up, barton.

YOU ASKED: “Do you believe Ted when he said God told him to run for president?”

I then asked you to send me a quote and a link.

YOU REPLIED WITH THE FOLLOWING QUOTE: “Here am I Lord, use me”: Ted Cruz’s dad says Holy Ghost authorized White House run

Do you still not see your mistake?

You seem to be referencing something his father said, not something Ted Cruz said, but why do you have a problem if God tells someone to obey him?

Cruz supporters answer this question. Do you believe Ted when he said God told him to run for president? As a Christian who seeks God for guidance and listens for his direction and confirmation, it does not sound strange or unreasonable at all to me. And that is probably the case for millions of evangelical believers. Because I don't know anything about your belief system, I can only say that you may or may not be aware that millions of Christians listen for guidance on a regular basis from the God they love and serve. Along with relationship with God also can come other "fruits of the Spirit" including discernment, which is also a part of learning to listen for God's "voice" (in quotes because it encompases many ways of communication). Bottom line is that Christians who regularly seek God's direction are often much more attuned to recognizing genuine vs pretenders. I am not infallible, but at this point, I have seen nothing to dissuade me from believing that Ted is a real Christian who is acquainted from experience with concepts of seeking God's guidance.

Can you provide a link showing where Ted said this? I have seen this claim made all over this forum, yet I have not seen the actual source of the claim. Not that I have any particular problem with it if he did - God gives me direction in my life all of the time.
