If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz, because you are exactly right: This is the closest in our lifetimes we have ever been to Ronald Reagan.
***snip***
But for those of you that conservatism's the answer and conservatism is the way, you have no choice here. Ted Cruz has got to be your guy. There's nobody even close. Nobody.

“He would rule Cruz ineligible, which he at that time will have the right to do.”
The Vice President has the power to do that? Even as a member of the minority party? I seriously doubt it. This would be decided in the courts, not by some partisan politician on his way out of office.

To all the Trump supporters - please tell me who Trump is going to appoint to the Supreme Court ? His sister ?
I know Cruz had to go along with Bush and go with Roberts, but Roberts was not Cruz’s first choice.
Why isn’t the most important issue - the future of the Supreme Court - of more concern here at FR?
To: demshateGod
If Cruz came out and tomorrow with the exact same platform as Trump.
What are you talking about? cruz has come out with the exact same plans that Trump has, he is just always a day later. That Is why I call cruz the "Me Too" candidate. In fact, the only time cruz has led the way on anything was TPA.

I've been critical of Ted Cruz at times...as we all should with any of our representatives or office holders. What astonishes me is how some folks won't give credit where credit is due. Senator Cruz stood with only a slim few against the GOP-Obama cabal. I remember he was celebrated here. Now, he is the enemy to some and utterly useless to others.
Yeah, I've read some very disturbing things here.

Trump is not a conservative, he is an unstable person, untrustworthy, intellectually lazy, a nasty guy, and nobody likes him. In fact, surveys have shown that Trump is the most unliked candidate in the history of unlikedness. He has a low ceiling and may be unelectable even against what the Dems put up this year.

No borders, language or culture in your answer. Fail.
Conservatism as a political and social philosophy promotes retaining traditional social institutions in the context of culture and civilization. Some conservatives seek to preserve things as they are, emphasizing stability and continuity, while others, called reactionaries, oppose modernism and seek a return to "the way things were".[1][2] The first established use of the term in a political context originated with Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand in 1818,[3] during the period of Bourbon restoration that sought to roll back the policies of the French Revolution. The term, historically associated with right-wing politics, has since been used to describe a wide range of views

"Conservative means something. It doesnât just mean whatever you or anyone else want it to mean."
Conservatism is not an objective absolute.
In the modern era it was essentially defined by WF Buckley.
It has morphed into a diseased whore.
People are tired of being told what is, and is not, Conservative.

Actually, it does mean something. If you would go figure out what it means, you would know it’s easy to figure out who is really conservative and who isn’t.

Absolutely I did. You see, to me the only things cruz represents is the establishment that wants to empower and then blame obumber for a one world order. You really need to watch more than "Ancient Aliens" on television. You are OUT THERE.......

So anyone that disagrees with (or doesn’t follow) Rush is a “wacko”.
Anyone who won’t vote for Cruz in the primary is “not conservative” or “not Christian”.
Jim Jones is smiling somewhere in Hell right now.
