“You cannot be one kind of man and another kind of president.” - Labor Secretary Lynn Martin - 1992
I’m having a flashback to Carter’s “Malleable” comment.
Greg was concerned about Trump being rough around the edges?
I don’t believe he’s really a Yinzer.
Active alcoholics usually change when they move to a new place and start over
Trump doesn't drink...never has.
Just not so.
Kennedy, Nixon, Johnson, etc., were all wildly different in private than they were in public.
As President you are not campaigning, so as a skilled leader he would lead instead of leading from his behind like Obama.
“Active alcoholics usually change when they move to a new place and start over”
Huh?
I think Trump is capable of ratcheting the rough behavior back, when it suits his purpose. In fact, most politician campaign as party purists during the selection process, changing to party centerists after they obtain the nomination. They prepare to appeal to voters outside the base.
That's exactly why Carter said it...to turn conservatives against Trump.
He’s in a war right now and war is hell. Once he’s President, and this war is over, I would expect him to dial back his rhetoric. until then, all’s fair.
Like we all give a $hit what the likes of Lester Holt have to say. For me, I’m glad that the “real words” that are normally used behind our backs are out in the open. Besides, that paragon of word “authentication” George Carlin said years ago that “pussy” was not one of the seve words you can’t say on television. He always left it to those using “words” to provide the “context” surrounding their use. Besides, who knows, Cruz may well be a “pussy,” but it’s for those watching to make their personal determination.
Into what?
why did I know that was coming?
Its the principal of the thing (people don’t change)
I think Trump will simply schlong his way though
“That’s exactly why Carter said it...to turn conservatives against Trump.”
Trump turned me against Trump long before Carter spoke up.
Trump talked about his outward demeanor would change.
It shows.
Its called the “traveling cure “
and there should be a sarcasm tag at the end of the statement I didn’t think I needed it
“Kennedy, Nixon, Johnson, etc., were all wildly different in private than they were in public.”
Yes; worse.
