Bernie Sanders's New Hampshire victory speech: Terrifying
americanthinker.com ^ | 2/10/2016 | Michael Filozof

...Bernie's speech was delivered with profound sincerity and conviction, and his supporters were wildly enthusiastic. His delivery was excellent.

It was the content I found to be not just troubling, but frightening.

I've never in my life heard such unapologetic, full-throated socialism in American politics. Sanders is the real deal. He's so left-wing he practically makes Obama look like the chairman of the Republican National Committee. At least Obama felt compelled to lie about the true extent of his leftism. Sanders doesn't - and he isn't kidding around. This is damn near Clement Attlee and Fabian socialist-type stuff. True, he's not advocating nationalizing industries (yet), but he's cocksure that he can take as much of anyone else's money as he wants and spend it on just about anything. Free single-payer health care, free college, green energy, no more fossil fuels, $15 minimum wage, end "institutional racism" – Sanders sees no limits on what government can, should, and will do. And "Wall Street" will pay for it all.

It ain't just his ideas that are frightening, the fact that many people voted for him is REALLY scary. Guess no history has been taught in the last 50 years. Uh, hey bernie. What was your net worth again? Wasn't that a swell golden parachute severance package your wife got after driving the school into oblivion. If he were to get the position, oh, we'd feel the bern alright.

It’s not frightening at all when you consider the basic selfish nature of the gimmedats and the dontdonuffins, who are always on board for lots of free sh*t, paid for by Uncle Sam who will take the funds right out of your pocket.

It is sad that we have come to the point in this country where a European socialist is actually taken seriously and not tarred and feathered.

Looking like this story is going to come true as far as what Sanders stands for and will do if elected:

I’m not that concerned because NH has become liberal over the years. If there only choice was Hillary or Bernie, not much of a choice for dem voters. I like our chances against either one of them. I still think the dems are planning on Hil being indicted and Biden coming in on a white horse at the convention, with no need to defend his record in primaries.

Sanders is a more far left rerun of McGovern, Dukakis, & Mondale.

In the past, that was prescription of electoral disaster in national elections.

But in a country that elected Obama twice, assume nothing.

Freightening indeed.

Bernie needs a field trip to Venezuela, but he would probably view their government as a success story.

Twice. WTH? Last time around, Old Glory was lowered around 10:00 p.m. that night and has rarely seen the light of day since. Fourth of July, Veterans day. Maybe a couple of others.

Bernie Sanders, in and of himself, is just not that scary a person. Rather like a somewhat irate grandfather, with his idiosyncrasies and firm opinions about a lot of things that no longer really apply. This can be very attractive to a certain type of youngster (not ALL kids are the same, you know), and they would exult in how “spunky” the old fellow was.

One should not be so sure, however, that Bernie’s opinions and notions are necessarily held by only the minority in this country. There is still a lot of crossover appeal, especially after Herself has disappeared from the political scene, hopefully forever, that drags in the anti-establishment vote.

Certainly, with Herself out of the race, this stands to be one of the more well-attended turnouts for the vote than has been seen in many recent elections.

If the Democrats turn AGAINST Bernie, they face only very bad choices for the November election.

Historically, would be dictators like Lenin, Mao, Mussolini, and Castro announce their specific plans for the proles in advance. Welcome to the club, Bernie.

Most people, especially young people, are oblivious to the dangers of Communism and Socialism. For the former, after the fall of the USSR, people stopped thinking of Communism as a threat. For the later, young people are bombarded with messages about the “superiority” of European-type Socialism while what is going on in countries like Venezuela is ignored.

Not sure if Bernie will win in the end, but he will give Hillary a real run for her $$ because his views are more closely aligned with today’s Democrats than hers.

How do you take the oath of office, and swear to uphold The Constitution, if you want to implement everything The Constitution is against?

Much like Venezuela, it’s the unfathomable ignorance of his supporters that is truly frightening.

If one understands the academic reinforcement of social planning/collectivism, the ideology is even more frightening because there is hardly any escape from that "belief".

Freedom and liberty that require responsibility are found guilty and essentially "sentenced" into a prison of perpetual pseudo-intellectual cynicism.

Unbelievable that so many American citizens would actually vote for a communist. Back in the 60’s we were ready for WWW 3 to fight commies; God help us.

80+ years of the Welfare State have turned a large chunk of this country into people who are looking for a handout. Who think that its the governments job to take from “the rich” and hand out money to everyone else. Not just the poor — we’re way past that at this point — but crony capitalists and the middle class too. The old cartoon about pulling the wagon was prophetic. We now are at the point where there are 20 or 30 people in the wagon being pulled by two or three people. And the 20 or 30 are screaming at the 2 or 3 who are pulling to pull faster.

Looks like the Dems need new blood to counter ancient socialist Bernie. If Joe Biden and John Kerry decided to enter the race, the number of years in the combined age of the Democrat candidates laid end to end would stretch around the earth twice.
