CONCORD, N.H. — Hillary Clinton’s got until South Carolina to prove this is all a fluke. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has until the end of March to prove it’s not.If Sanders is truly going to become a Barack Obama-style Clinton-slayer of 2016, he knows he’s going to need to start racking up Obama-level support among non-white voters, and quickly, because the Democratic primary is about to come down to race.

Well, my wife would kill me if she read that post, but it does not make it less true.

Actually, Ann Coulter has been saying it for years, so it’s not my original idea.

Universal suffrage is a bad idea. It is really a death sentence for a free country. I’m not sure what the criteria ought to be, I have no problem with women voting, nor do I have a problem with young people voting, per se. One way to narrow the field is to preclude those who obtain government largess from voting. Welfare or vote, pick one. There might be a way to extend that to the crony class, too.

I agree. It was women’s groups which pushed Prohibition, and women have voted for the nanny state in large numbers ever since we got the vote. No disrespect to the good conservative female voters here at FR and nation-wide, but we are outnumbered, and I believe that it’s at least partly the influence of the female vote which has steered the GOP to the left.

But I also agree with property and tax requirements to vote-why should the wolves get to outvote the sheep on what’s for dinner?

You have a point. I just commented that I don’t believe that the wolves should be able to outvote the sheep on what’s for dinner, but there are wolves of different stripes-the highest and lowest echelons seem to manage to outvote the hard-pressed middle. I don’t know the answer to that.

Really. Only producing Americans — requirements TBD — should be allowed to vote. And then, only after passing a test in English and basic civics.

Why are minorities so in love with a screechy old owl like Hillary? It’s not as if she exudes “cool.”

"One way to narrow the field is to preclude those who obtain government largess from voting."

Would that include retirees living - totally or in part - on social security? Or anyone enrolled in Obamacare?

In theory, there is some merit to your idea, because many government benefits can almost be considered as bribes to buy votes, but in practice your idea might end up excluding about 70% of eligible voters.

I wouldn’t include Social Security in that, no. It’s all academic - once given, it is nigh impossible to take the franchise away. I think universal suffrage is literally a death sentence to a nation; which is why universal suffrage is pushed by the globalists and communists.
