Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said on the day of the New Hampshire primary that he was open to serving as vice president under another candidate, specifically saying that he would be willing to sit down and discuss it with Donald Trump.

Carson would be the straight man on the Trump/Carson comedy act. Just plain stupid.
And that’s a fair price of admission, I guess... Trump has to buy his competitors and their bases to win.
He would be a fine Surgeon General.
Three months ago that may have been a good idea. Now, not so much. Carson just isn’t a Presidential kind of leader.
HHS, probably. Surgeon General, yes. But not VP.
Ben Carson as Trumps V.P.?
Just show how detached from reality some Trumpsters are...
If Carson is being picked to garner support from black americans, I can think of several blacks who are more suited for the job...
Allen West for one...
Carson would not make a good VP for anybody.
The VP job is an overwhelmingly political job. Carson is not (yet) a politician, he is a technocrat, almost an opposite of a politician.
Trump, also not a politician, needs a very political VP. Cruz would be perfect, IMO. He is a brilliant lawyer & obviously a successful politician, having been a Senator & has argued before the Supreme Court.
Carson would be a good Surgeon General. He needs to stick to medicine.
Come on. That's uncalled for. After the primaries are over Trump and Cruz will be just fine with one another. The animosity is between their supporters. We should just stop.
Cruz has been a great Senator and he has my complete respect. Politics is politics.
I think he will do something unpredictable. His VP may not be a politician at all, maybe a business leader...who knows.
Having said he didn't believe Cruz was eligible then how could Trump choose him? And if he did why would Trump want it?
As for Carson, no VP. No Surgeon General. No cabinet post. Just go home.
Why?
ROTFLMFAO! The sours grapes are overflowing here this morning! LOL!
That and to say "I thought you were never going to call on me" every time he's asked a question.
I was ready to keep loving Carson but he just got too weird and soft. That entrance debacle the other night, why the hell did he keep standing there? I think people would walk all over him. Maybe I’m wrong.
DT flawlessly executing AotD tactics... kneecap your competitors then buy them out at 50¢ on the dollar.
Shame it can’t be Trump/Cruz: our external and INTERNAL enemies would go running to the hills.
There could be worse choices.
Folks on this site would all do well to promote, support each of his/her candidate and STOP denigrating others and the candidate for whom they support. It's really beyond the pale now with all the attacks on fellow Freepers and the candidate of their choice, regardless of whom. I've been here since 2000, and have never experienced the degrading level to which we seem to be headed. It's seriously time to knock it off!
The Vice-Presidency is largely a ceremonious post. Ben Carson would be a very good person to have in that post because his image would tend to soften the hard image of Donald Trump and because evangelicals would find Trump much more palatable with Ben Carson at his side.
But current politics likely preclude Carson as choice for VP. Trump may need a VP pick that will garner enough delegates to overcome any attempt at a brokered convention.
It’s also an insult to our neighbors in Canada, calling a native born Canadian all these names. It needs to stop.
VP? If Trump isn't the outright nominee, I'd think the convention will be brokered. Trump is the expert dealmaker. I'd think he'll choose a VP smart, for delegates, balance, and vote-getting. I don't see it being Cruz....that dirty Cruz campaign is everything Trump wants to change in politics.
