Would a Brokered Convention Stop Donald Trump?
breitbart ^ | 14 Jan 2016 | Roger Stone

Will the GOP establishment steal the 2016 nomination from Donald Trump even if the magnate arrives in Cleveland with the most pledged delegates but short of the 50 percent he'd need to be nominated?

Is a back-room deal in the works to have a "brokered convention" to deny Trump the GOP nod? I think there is such a plan and it must be exposed.

Donald Trump is our last hope to make Washington work for us - not the lobbyists, special interests and billionaire donors who control the corroded two-party system. As Trump says: "America is going to hell!"

I am a veteran of nine national Republican presidential campaigns, including the floor of the 1976 Republican National Convention for Ronald Reagan. My sources inside the Republican party are warning me:

The insiders have a stunning plan to stop Trump even if he wins the primaries.

The plan involves stalling Trump short of a majority on the first ballot, since many of the delegates pledged to him would no longer be legally bound to support him on subsequent ballots. There are many, many Trojan Horse delegates inserted by the GOP establishment who could bolt from Trump after that first ballot.

Remember, up until March 14 all primaries have proportional delegate allocation. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% , Chris Christie, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% , Jeb Bush and the rest will be winning delegates, too.

There are 278 Super Delegates who are GOP establishment insiders, likely opposed to Trump. They constitute 4 percent of the convention. Thus, Trump must win 54 percent of delegates elected in caucuses and primaries to guarantee he could block a plot to stop him.

>>>Buying the votes of delegates via money, favors, drugs, high class call girls, anything!

Either that, or a majority of delegates agree on a candidate to support for president.

The deck is stacked...the cards are marked.

To me the main question is does the RNC want to get the wrath of the American people and I suspect they would rather take their chances with the rath before they’d let Trump be POTUS and basically destroy their gravy trains.

We ought to storm their headquarters if that happens.

But if a majority of delegates can be bought - advantage Trump.

“That doesn’t mean it’s stolen with “backroom” deals”

That is precisely what it means if the GOP is concocting a plan to find a way to destroy Trump even if he walks into the convention with the most delegates by far.
Do they really think they can do that and that ANYONE will then rally to support their chosen one? I wont.

-- The left & GOPe globalists want a brokered convention to install their candidate. They don't want the peoples choice. They still think that we will vote for their candidate in a race against a communist. --

The RNC wants the nominee to lose this time around, and to also cause loss of seats in Congress. It is time to pass the accountability baton back to the DEMs. The people are plenty asleep enough, they will not engage in civil disobedience, let alone rebellion.

This is why I have touted Trump-Cruz, to get beyond the numbers needed for a brokered convention ploy to be hatched.

Some people think there is no way that a Trump-Cruz alliance could be possible now after all the fracas that was created between the two. But that is nothing. They will kiss and make up.

And in case you missed it, Donald said after Iowa he would still consider Ted as his VP. In other words, the slugfest was all for show.

>>>”even if he walks into the convention with the most delegates by far.

A super-plurality still does not win. Actually it means a majority is for someone else.

Well, sure he is only writing about Donald Cruz, but Ted Trump is going to face the same problem with the GROPe Washington insiders voting against him as well. ...

“If you don’t have the required delegates, it’s “brokered.” That doesn’t mean it’s stolen with “backroom” deals.

Silly premise to the article.”

But it keeps political pundits employed, just like the radio and television category.

If Trump is bright enough to lead going into the convention, I predict he is also bright enough to contend with this sort of thing, or head it off along the way.

*This sort of speculation is derived from the mindset that politics is too difficult for mere mortals, therefore requiring seasoned professionals.

Yes. After all, he wrote the book on the “Art of the [backroom] Deal.”

Thanks for your reply.

“A super-plurality still does not win. Actually it means a majority is for someone else.”

Enjoy it! Because those voters of the super plurality will flip you the finger and walk. The hostage deal of “you have to vote for us or you’ll elect the evil democrat” game is ancient history. Scheme away in your parlor game of ways to kill the front runners campaign at the convention!

No it wasn’t a serious question, it was a smart ass one. Here’s your serious question, do you have a problem understanding how people who voted for the clear leader will react if your little scheme comes true?

Do you think they will all just go ahead and vote for Rubio or Jeb or some such?

His delegates can NOT leave him on the first ballot; that is now disallowed.

Trump will very likely win the minimum 8 states, outright, with no problem. Meeting the delegate # is doable, but not certain and therein is the problem.

If Trump meets ALL requirements, there is NO WAY that the idiotic RNC can pull off a brokered convention!

They can NOT do that! It is now against the rules and too late to have a rule change.

if trump is as smart as he says he is, he'll be prepared before the convention to go indie. that's the best insurance/leverage he can have against the coming steal by the gopes.

It is probably already too late to consider going independent. Most states now have "sore loser" laws, which means you can't be on the primary ballot for one party and then on the general ballot as an independent or for another party. And Trump is already on the ballot of enough state primaries that even if he decided to go independent right now and won every state he could still run in for the general, he still could not win 270 electoral votes. So that leverage is pretty well gone.
