For that matter, Popes come and go. They won't preach error. But as for what they have for breakfast and what they think of politics? Well, both history and theology demonstrate amply what St. Peter showed us--that they're only men. But that didn't change Our Lord's mind. He didn't say, "You denied me three times, Simon. You obviously can't run a church. You're fired."
What He said was, "Feed my sheep."
They're only men. It's not a scandal. Francis is a flawed instrument, but I am doubly so. The scandal of man's sin and redemption is the glory we're stuck with.
