The reason Russia is possibly building a new airbase on the Turkish border inside Syria became clearer today as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hinted Turkey could enter the war on the side of the anti-Assad forces who Russia has been primarily targeting. The Syrian government made major gains against the Sunni opposition in recent weeks as the Syrian city of Aleppo looked to fall from the oppositionâs control. Turkey has repeatedly urged the American-led coalition against ISIS to do more to help the anti-Assad forces. âWe donât want to fall into the same mistake in Syria as in Iraq,â Mr. Erdogan said,

NATO gets sucked in. Weâre screwed.
Not really - Russia is not attacking a NATO member. A NATO member is jumping into the middle of a mess where there are really no good guys. This is an issue for Turkey - not NATO.
It wouldn’t be that simple. Turkey is in NATO.
Hysterical. Sounds like what the Dems said about Reagan. We never got WW3 did we.
Time for NATO to let Turkey go its own way.
It has its own agenda.

Easily so. NATO is a mutual *defense* pact.
You are mistaken. Antichrist is exactly what it says, against Christ.
WW3 has already started except the enemy isn’t limited to a geographic country. It’s a religious war that a large fraction of Islam has declared against all non-muslims. The Western nations in their sights are all filled with Chamberlains at the time when we need Churchills. Political correctness prevents our so called leaders from naming our enemy for what they really are and that endangers us all.
Was a big mistake to keep NATO alive after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Even bigger mistake to guarantee the security of the Islamist Erdogan, whose own goal is to flood Europe with “refugees.”
The cold war is long since over... let the Turks swing in the wind versus the Russians.
Today they want Ottoman Empire part II and a Muslim demographic victory in Europe. Isolate them and let them choke on their malevolent ambition.
Technology has changed the strategic situation as well. What was important during the Cold War is not so important today.
They’re chomping at the bit to go to war with Russia.
Sounds reasonable...
Well, it is either Turkey takes a slice of Syria or we let Russia push all those fighters accross the border to invade Europe and America...
Yikes
By treaty, we are bound to defend Turkey as if it was Texas...well DC.
Hyperbolic sensationalism. Neither Assad nor his Iranian associates are friends of the West, and with the low oil prices, Russia will be experiencing an economic collapse.
Erdogan and his jihadists will be expunged IMHO..
Hence all the flies on the podium when he makes a speech; Beelzebama, the master of disaster..
