GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson suggested that the controversy over Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)'s campaign action during the Iowa caucus might be on the minds of voters ahead of the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday.
"I suspect it may well," Carson told Breitbart News. "We were in church this morning and the minister sort of alluded to it, talking about Christian values and politics."
Just ahead of the vote, the Cruz campaign sent out notes and voicemails to precinct captains telling them to tell Carson voters that he would be suspending his campaign and to support Cruz instead. The Cruz campaign has said it only passed along a news report from CNN.
"I've said all along that the evidence is pretty clear and it should be very easy for people to make a judgment on this," Carson said in response to a CNN statement, which it issued Saturday night that said Cruz "knowingly misstated" CNN's pre-caucus report.
"The only issue is, is this acceptable behavior to voters? Obviously, it's acceptable behavior to Washington politicians," he said.
The Washington Post reported Cruz approached Carson during a commercial break during the debate Saturday night and requested a private meeting.
Carson told Breitbart News that he hopes Cruz dismisses the staff that was involved in spreading the false report.
"I would like to see something happen that would more or less ensure that this kind of thing does not continue to happen," Carson explained when asked what he would like to see come out of a private meeting with Cruz.
"I kind of look at it when you find a problem, you fix it, you just don't sort of sweep it under the rug," Carson explained.

Cruz told Iowa evangelical supporters he strapped on the armor of God (to make sure his Christianity set him apart from those other candidates).
Cruz was all strapped up, but Cruz was the only one who co-opted Carson voters....telling Carson voters to caucus w/Cruz b/c Carson was dropping out.
This was not an inadvertent mistake.....the message was created specifically to steal Carson/s votes....and was sent out to Cruz/s 1500 precinct captains.
You know if you shoot someone dead then apologize, they’re no less dead.
Apologies don’t always cut it.
No one liked him in college and no one likes him in the Senate.
This wouldn't be a problem except the reason no one likes him is that he is a self-absorbed fake.
That could be the dumbest analogy of this campaign season.
Every time Carson points a finger a Cruz... 3 others point back at him.
Oh yes, Cruz owed him an apology - it WAS dirty tricks, but you Cruzbots are part of the problem that faces this country - by allowing a politician to get away with anything. OR is it just because it’s your “saint” Ted Cruz - who is part of the establishment, or the Washington Cartel, as he calls them
Why did Cruz apologize since he’d already gone record saying nothing wrong was done and no one would be disciplined.
Only politicians apologize just because they think it will make a problem go away without really admitting they did anything wrong. Just listen to Hillary talking about Benghazi.
He has grabbed onto it as an excuse for failure.
And every time Cruz points a finger at CNN, he has 3 pointing back at him. Hypocrite!
Oh shut up, Carson.....you’re not going to win, so quit whining
Good lord, stick to real issue
****************************************************************************
A number of the candidates (including Carson) don’t really have real issues which resonate with the voters, so they settle for silly things such as this NON-ISSUE.
It’s actually PATHETIC, IMHO. Carson has done his personal prestige considerable harm-—probably because his idiotic advisors are giving him very bad advice.
And Cruz’s team’s action was to tweet a story as it broke, and it was unclear because of Mr Carson. It is not Team Cruz’s responsibility to clarify Carson’s CNN Headline stories. So again, please describe this “crime” which you think needs consequences.
Nice, the old leftist ploy of destroy the victim.
Yet another breathless EXCLUSIVE from Trumpbart.com.
“EXCLUSIVE! The guy who came in 4th thinks some of his followers may be upset.”
STOP THE PRESSES!!
Hank
What you said, but times infinity!!!!!

If he didn’t owe him one, then why do it?
Pity. Dr. Carson comes across to me as principled and honorable, but I don’t think that is what the country may want or need right now. I hope Carson gets a spot in the new administration and can maybe influence leadership into more honorable doings.
Oh, so if the news reports Cruz is dropping out, they’d have no obligation to confirm before going into active caucuses and spreading the word?
Can’t defend evil.
You obviously did not see the Rubio tweets at about the same time, or earlier.
"Our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story," Cruz said in a statement first shared with CNN. "That's fair game. What the team then should have done was send around the follow-up statement."
So again, what is the crime and what do you suggest as "punishment"? Keep in mind that some of Cruz's staff were Carson folks who left Ben last month.
More than anything, this entire affair shows the stupidity of the Iowa Caucus system...of both parties.
What a backward state...Clinton apparently wins by six coin tosses(who really knows?) and the repubs end up in a big controversy because one of the candidates decides to go home to pick up clean laundry.
What a screwed up system where two puny states are so influential in picking our next president.
