An "article" posted Thursday by Jeva Lange at The Week blatantly lies about Ted Cruz. And it is not the first time Lange has mischaracterized Cruz's words.
The post, titled "Ted Cruz mistakenly claims Jimmy Carter endorsed Donald Trump," gives the reader the false impression that Ted Cruz said former President Jimmy Carter would vote for Donald Trump.
Lange writes: ...

The TDS is strong with the Trumpeteers.
None of this nonsense from Cruz is unforgivable if he could bring himself to sing a different tune.
However there does come a time when, faced with a poop and a command to pick it up by the clean end, the only honest answer is “Impossible. Nothing doing. There is no clean end.”
It’s a shame you’re not able to keep up. Then you’d realize how silly you are appearing to be. Seriously, you should go back and read the posts leading up to this one. Maybe someday you will be able to understand it.
Wouldn’t CDS be the logical thing to accuse Trumpbot Central of? Not TDS? TDS is Cruzbot Central’s malady.
If you're presenting yourself as an honest truth-teller and make a statement like that without an indication that it's not literally true, you'll get in trouble -- and deserve it.
For example, the British tabloids presented Carter's comments as an endorsement of Trump, but everybody knows they don't aim at 100% accuracy. If you've got a reputation to lose, you've got to be more careful.
I think you are the confused one. Cruz is very malleable. Mitch McConnell made him that way.
Some of you are so fooled it amazes me. Ted is good at crafting a persona that the gullible buy hook, line, and sinker.
Oddly enough this morning I overheard a conversation in the pastor’s office of a fairly conservative Baptist church with some of the regulars. Cruz wasn’t getting all that enthusiastic a backing.
In public remarks, Jimmy Carter said he would support Trump over Cruz.
That's not an "endorsement".
So Cruz WAS "mistaken" - so much for that "keen and incisive" mind.
Baumer - thanks for proving that GodGunsGuts, and Renee Nal, author of this swill, are serial fabulists. :)
Does not apply. No true Scotsmen is a universal assertion fallacy. Saying Trump is not a conservative is a fact about one individual. Does not mean you can’t support him it just means do it with your eyes wide open.
False. Carter endorsed Trump over Cruz. That was the entire point. Liberals, Rockefeller Republicans and the MSM in general prefer the furthest left candidate they can convince Republicans to vote for. Nothing new about that x.
According to Merriam-Webster- “Simple Definition of endorsement. : a public or official statement of support or approval”
So yes, Carter said he would “support” (or endorse) Trump over Cruz.
The media will stop at nothing to destroy the politicians they fear. It’s to Cruz’s credit.
Carter would gas himself in his own kitchen before he would pull the lever for Trump.
So Ted is a bombastic liar.
Carter doesn't vote in Republican primaries. Plus, look at what you wrote: "Carter endorsed Trump over Cruz." That's different from saying, "Carter endorsed Trump." Without the words "over Cruz" it sounds like Carter was urging people (his own supporters and admirers) to go out and vote for Trump -- which he wasn't doing.
That was the entire point. Liberals, Rockefeller Republicans and the MSM in general prefer the furthest left candidate they can convince Republicans to vote for.
There are different angles here. Maybe a guy over 90 is just giving an opinion, not working political strategy. And when Democrats do give Republicans tips on who to vote for, their main interest might be in getting Republicans to vote for candidates they thing will lose, not in setting an ideological course for their opponents to follow.
Maybe. Who is public enemy number 1 for Fox, CNN, MSNBC and Rockefeller Republicans right now? Cruz or Trump?
Sorry, your guy GodGunsGuts made it apply.

dforest and I are Genuine conservatives, and we don't look at Trump's life and record with horror.
So FAIL, at GGG's "no True Scotsman" post.
BTW there is no difference in the context of a Republican primary. Carter prefers Trump which is why he spoke out. That’s the definition of endorsement vis a vis a Republican primary. But more than that it is a tortured attempt to paint Cruz as a liar based on what the meaning of is is. Yes, Clintonian.
Exactly.
As I wrote earlier: Carter would gas himself in his own kitchen before he would pull the lever for Trump.
I cede the point. He did say that.
That is your opinion. The discussion was about Carter’s opinion, which is that Trump is malleable and Cruz is not.
And any Democrat politician understands all of that far better than you do.
