Ben Carson said late Saturday that Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas approached him during an off-camera break at ABCâs Republican debate to apologize for his campaignâs conduct during the Iowa caucuses and requested a one-on-one meeting with him.
âHe said heâs sorry that this happened and he wants to sit down and talk,â Carson said in an interview with The Washington Post. âHe wants to discuss the whole thing and clear the air.â
In the interview, Carson said pointedly that if the meeting with Cruz is scheduled, that does not mean the the senator will be absolved.
âThe evidence is there,â he said, citing voice-mails that his campaign has released of Cruz allies telling caucus-goers that Carson was likely to suspend his bid. âTapes, written communications, itâs all out there. People have to decide whether this kind of behavior is acceptable to them.â

Thought Cruz was nasty yet here he is apologizing for tweeting the news.
“If there is one republican candidate she fears, it’s Trump.”
Trump is the Democrat’s only hope of winning. Hillary and Sanders are both too repulsive to get elected UNLESS we nominate someone even more repulsive.
I’m ex-military. So are most of the people I know. I know very few democrats. But I’ve only met one person in the last month who thinks Trump is worth considering.
Trump said his sister would make a great Supreme Court nominee - the best! She has also ruled partial-birth abortions are a constitutional right, protected from any contrary law. So the “Supreme Court nominee” argument is going to be a tough sell...
Again, as a Christian, I see it differently. Carson won’t accept Cruz’s apology until and unless Cruz does what CARSON thinks is right, and that is profoundly unbiblical. The Bible doesn’t say, “Forgive people only if they jump through enough of your hoops.” And assuming Cruz is a Christian, then Cruz firing someone for what Cruz believes is an honest mistake would be unjust, and Carson, as a Christian, has no right to ask it of him.
Ironically, if Cruz were the typical politician, he would have fired the guy long time past, just to get Carson off his back. From my perspective, the longer this goes on, the better Cruz looks, because he is refusing to sacrifice someone for purely political reasons.
Carson is a Ted man walking
You are so on point LS and it’s the biggest issue of this mess.
When one wraps themselves up in being oh so holy and above it all, it creates an expectation and Ted failed that.
I was thinking about this yesterday, much as you have just said. Trump never tried to present himself as pure.
no he is just a do anything run casinos, rum hooker’s conservative guy
You know I have done that.
I am a grain of sand
You know I have done that.
I am a grain of sand
Poor old Ted is a bible thumping foot washing Baptist.
Gol Dang if that aint a disqaulifier
I do not recall Cruz claiming Divinity, I must admit that if he did he would loose my vote.
Sorry Trump never declared he was evangelical just Christian. And Cruz did nothing to reprimand his staff at very least. That makes him complicit at least. Evil should be reserved for evil like abortion. This is not principled on Cruz part but not evil.
Re yer tagline
You never want to be at sea and be handed the black spot, but it happens and you need a plan
No one but the Cruz campaign said Carson was leaving the race. Read the tweets. Taking a break is not quitting. The Cruz campaign lied.
“Too late, damage done.”
Exactly. Unless we can have a redo in Iowa.
we don’t do mulligans.
that is a Scottish thang
Apoligies to my cousins ;)
I don't know. You're probably right.
