... Trump said, who noted Jeb and everyone else in the debate also supports eminent domain when it comes to the Keystone pipeline....

Yep, me too....I support the proper use of eminent domain when it is CONSTITUTIONAL (i.e., for PUBLIC USE and with proper COMPENSATION).
Donald Trump said he supports the Kelo decision “100 percent.”
Today, little eminent domain is for things like highways, most of it is used for redevelopment of distressed areas to increase the tax base: high rise construction, malls... and yes, casinos with significant parking.
This is a last gasp issue to come at Trump, and the hope of those who bring the issue up is that people are ignorant of the facts.
Do you consider the Keystone pipeline public use? It would be owned by a private company.
Most of the pipelines that were put in to support gasoline distribution after the advent of the automobile were a combination of direct purchase but when necessary the use of e.d. Those were forced to allow for the pipeline developments that otherwise would never have happened. The excessive use of e.d. for private use is dangerous. However, it is not something that should be completely shut down.
Keystone is private company forreign money as I understand.
So you don’t support the Keystone Pipeline, which is a private venture? Now, Donald Trump has said that he would make Keystone more “public” by demanding a cut of the profits for the federal government. But as it stands, Keystone is a private project that needs to use eminent domain to be built.
How do you define Public Use? The keystone pipeline is to transport private oil. Not even sure who will own the pipeline either.
The governments trying eminent domain for Trump's two cases thought their attempts were in the public interest. They lost those two attempts and in the case of the widow, she agreed to sell for a lot less money than Trump had offered her before eminent domain was even tried.
And SCOTUS subsequently ruled that eminent domain can be used to put the property back into private hands, if the tax revenue on the property will increase.
That’s correct. Public USE, not public PURPOSE, as the USSC has tried to change it to.
That Little ol lady lived in that house till 2010. She then moved into and old folks facility.
Her husband and her bought that property in the 60s for about 20 grand, was offered 1 million and simply would not do it.
She moved to the San Fran Bay area as I understand.
On the other hand, I have not heard from the rest about Reids dealings in Las Vegas where he had BLM land turned into development properties for his buddy Rhodes, then got a per cent kickback from the sale of each lot sold.
But Trump is bad for offering a lady 1 million for a lot that was bought for some 20 grand. Yet Reid is good for getting BLM land turned over for nothing and then collecting on the eventual sale?
The Supreme Court has approved generally the widespread use of the power of eminent domain by federal and state governments in conjunction with private companies to facilitate urban renewal, destruction of slums, erection of low-cost housing in place of deteriorated housing, and the promotion of aesthetic values as well as economic ones. In Berman v. Parker, 186 a unanimous Court ob served: ''The concept of the public welfare is broad and inclusive. The values it represents are spiritual as well as physical, aesthetic as well as monetary. It is within the power of the legislature to determine that the community should be beautiful as well as healthy, spacious as well as clean, well-balanced as well as carefully patrolled.'' For ''public use,'' then, it may well be that ''public interest'' or ''public welfare'' is the more correct phrase - See more at: http://constitution.findlaw.com/amendment5/annotation14.html#sthash.9n9ZlkLH.dpuf
