Chris Christie accused Marco Rubio of being an empty suit, a dilettante who repeats the same memorized speech over and over.
Rubio's response: the same memorized speech.
For a minute or so on Saturday night, the Republican golden boy seemed like a malfunctioning robot. Delivering the same confusing line four separate times -- Barack Obama, he said, "knows exactly what he's doing" -- Rubio proved the precise point Christie was trying to make.
"There it is," Christie said, triumphant. "There it is, everybody."
The Republican debate was held three days before the New Hampshire primary in which national front-runner Donald Trump has held a big lead for months. As usual, Trump went largely unchallenged by a field of rivals who see little upside in incurring his wrath. But Rubio, the Florida senator and establishment favourite who had been rising in the polls, may have suffered his worst moment of the whole campaign.
Christie was arguing that first-term senators like Rubio and Barack Obama, are not equipped to lead the country. Rubio, in response, was trying to explain that Obama has been effective in taking the country in the wrong direction. He ended up sounding like a pro-Obama automaton, essentially creating a ready-made attack ad against himself.
The timing is especially bad for him. Rubio and three current or former governors -- New Jersey's Christie, Florida's Jeb Bush and Ohio's John Kasich -- are waging a ferocious competition for second place in New Hampshire, a result that would give Rubio much-needed momentum or allow one of the governors to stay in the race. >

It WAS painful.
Christies was perfect!
So Rubio didn’t pass the Turing test.
Excellent.
Obama was the Teleprompter-Reader-in-Chief; Rubio would be the “Memorized-Spiel-in-Chief as President. Both empty suits and disasters for the Republic.
Things got a little sweaty for Marco in his “empty suit” last night, didn’t it?
Great biting post.
Trump was asked after the debate to comment on how Rubio did, and I was glad to hear him say he wasn’t going to comment. They were already piling on Rubio and I was glad Trump didn’t bite.
All that sweating must have shorted out his circuit boards
The Marco Rubot campaign:
100 SET N=1
200 IF N=1, GO TO 100
300 ENDIF
I’m waiting for somebody to ask Marco to recite the 3 Laws of Robotics.
Its obvious that Rubio was never a street kid in New Jersey. If you grew up in Jersey by age 15 you knew how to handle Christie’s attack. Common Jersey negotiating tactic “First break four of his ribs, tell him to take a deep breath and then say whatever comes to mind.” (allegorically of course.)
It WAS painful.

The PERFECT “negative” ad against Rubio would be one of those dolls that you pull a string and it plays a recorded voice...the “doll” would, of course, have Rubio’s child-like face and the “speech” would be one of his standards.
As many of you know I am a Rubio supporter. He was awful. LOL. Well the first of the debate he was really bad. Did have some moments later. Still think he is the one that can win. I am sure Christie can’t.
OH RUSH Limbaugh.....what do you think of your ‘STAR’ conservative now? LOLOL...so glad I have refused to listen to Rush any more...what a bag of ‘hot air’!!!
Probably a little too much coke.
lol. Perfect.
The GOPe wants an photogenic programmable GOPe-bot to program, add a full charge and then send him out to do their shtick.
Evidently, one or more of his parts is high temp sensitive and he gets a bit intermittent under the hot lights and pressure, as was apparent when Christie challenged him.
Curiously, that was also not unlike what happens during a replicant interview. Hmmmm...
Not a big Marco fan if throw out the canned talking points. He had few scores. He ain’t ready IMHO but I think he may make a good senate leader.
